CROSS CREEK FAYETTEVILLE
Does anyone have, or can you suggest, a reliable source of information on Cross Creek, the Scottish
settlement that later became Fayetteville, NC? I can find general references to the town and NC State
Archives has a map of the original town, but that's about all the details I've been able to unearth.
I need to know the names of businesses there, etc.

CARR
I just found a listing on the Colliers Church Chapel Cemetary of someone
that may be my ancestor. Died 10/2/1895. Archives in Raleigh says they
wwon't have death record - same with Cumberland County register ... any
ideas as to how I could get back up / some kind of documentation & proof
that this is my guy. The surname is CARR - so it's pretty broad. Thanks
for guidance!

McDONALD / YADKINS FALLS
I am looking for a town by the name of Yadkins Falls,
possibly in Cumberland Co. My James McDONALD, innkeeper at Cross Creek
had a son, William, who stated in his registration for the Army he was
born there. It isn't listed on the new state map. This was in the late
1770's, 1800's. Possibly gone by now. Thanks so much,

McKENZIE
I am trying to find if an Alexander McKENZIE is listed in either the Robeson
Co., or Cumberland Co. NC census for 1800. He was born 1785 in NC and we
believe he is the son, Alexander, mentioned in the McKENZIE Letter on the
Cumberland Co. site. We have absolutely NO proof of this, but the dates match
and we do know that he said his father was Kenneth. However, having said
that, his first born son was named John Buie McKENZIE. He married a Charlotte
Monroe (also born 1785 in NC). They left NC and moved to Greene Co. MS around
1810(later it became Perry Co. MS). I have absolutely hit a brick wall as far
as information about his parents. My Mother, who is 89 now, has searched for
many years to connect him to a McKENZIE family back in NC with no luck. We
have tried to trace the Monroe connection also without any luck. Also tried
the Buie name in the hopes that someone would have a connection to that
family. No luck. I appreciate anything you might have that could point me in the right
direction. Thank you so very much,

McKELLAR / CALDWELL
My g.g.grandfather,
Alexander McKELLAR (Oct.12, 1804 - April 1, 1885) arrived in Butler Co., AL in 1829. He had spent 2
years in Monticello, Jefferson Co., FL before showing up in AL. He became a prominent citizen of
Greenville, Butler Co., AL which was in its infancy in 1829. I know he served as mayor, postmaster,
notary public, town clerk, tax assessor, and county treasurer. I believe he was a tailor by trade.
He jointed the Presbyterian Church in 1833. I think he came from Glasgow, Scotland, but have been unable
to verify this. What I don't know is who were his parents, siblings, etc. He may have had siblings that
went to Texas, as I remember hearing "old folks" speak of relatives in Texas. He married Mary Adeline
CALDWELL (Jan. 26, 1810 - Dec. 3, 1890) daughter of William Harris and Elizabeth CALDWELL, on 26 January
1832. They had 12 children. My
g. grandmother, Isabella McKELLAR, was the only child to marry. Anyone that might have a lead for me will
be more than appreciated. K. N. Head

EDWARDS
My name is Cammy and I'm looking for my family history. The EDWARDS of Falcon
I know that someone in Cumberland Co. did a search several years ago and came up with all sorts of goodies.
I think that it may have been the sister-in-law or daughter-in-law of Lois Draughon, 29 Jan 1898 - Jan 1980,
If my memory serves me correctly I think they owned a building business in Fayetteville and his son took it
over when the dad retired or died. If you know of this person and can direct me on how to contact then I
would be very greatful.
Thanks for your precious time. Cammy Ellis

James COLVIN, Sr. who left a will in Cumberland Co. North Carolina 1814 naming James, Jr., Henry, Robert and
Mary & wife Margaret (probably McNAIR). Our line is from James, Jr and his son Duncan Blue COLVIN. Duncan Blue
