MEDLIN (MADLEN)
Seek descendants of Joel MEDLIN (MADLEN) who entered 100 acres on May 4, 1773
in Cumberland County on south side of John PATTERSON'S land and adjoining the
Lower Little River. On September 9, 1784, Joel MEDLIN entered 50 acres on
Lower Little River bordering Robert SMITH in Moore County. On March 19, 1786,
Joel MEDLIN entered 50 acres on Pond Branch of Lower Little River in Moore
Co. On May 24 and May 26, 1786, Joel MEDLIN entered two each 50 acre tracts
in Moore County bordering Robert SMITH, one on south side of Lower Little
River and other on north side bordering Finley McDONALD. These lands were
below the mill pond established before 1769 by Nicholas SMITH near present
day Thagard's Lake at Whispering Pines.

CAPPS
I am researching CAPPS history and have much info. My GG Grandparents were William Henry CAPPS(06/18/1835)
and Nancy Anne Smith CAPPS (07/20/1835-01/01/1925). Both are buried at Galatia Presbyterian Church in western
Cumberland County. We think Williams fathers name was 'Harvey'(told by elder relatives) but another
connection says he was the son of 'Littleton'. Perhaps he had both names,(first & middle) and was probobly
from Johnson County.
Their son, David George CAPPS (02/09/1870 - 08-13-1963) & Annie Taylor CAPPS (05/14/1875-02/22/1934) were
my Great Grandparents. They are also buried at Galatia. Their son, George Hubert CAPPS (06/27/1904-08/24/1966)
& Fannie Monroe Capps were my grandparents. They are buried at the Spring Lake Church of the Covenent
Presbyterian Church on Manchester Road.
Their son James Edison CAPPS (b. 04/20/1928) & Mary Ann Strickland CAPPS are my parents. Anyone wishing
more info on this line, or having any to offer- please contact me at:

BEARD / MARSH / CARVER / CAIN
I am trying to locate information on where Neil Carver BEARD and his wife
Mahala MARSH BEARD are buried.
Neil C. Beard was born in about 1805. He was the oldest son of Neil BEARD
and Elizabeth CARVER BEARD of Cumberland Co., NC.
He married Mahala MARSH BEARD in Oct. 1831 in Cumberland Co., NC She was
the daughter of John and Hannah CAIN MARSH.
It is believed that he served in the Civil War and I understand that he died
sometime during the Civil War.
I don't know when his wife, Mahala, died.
I need to find out exactly WHERE they are buried.
Thanks for your assistance. Jackie Morgan

married James Jim AKINS there, had children there, Barbara Barbe Ann Akins
