McMANNEN / McALLISTER
Myrtle: I was searching for John A McMANNEN and found the McALLISTER history on your site ( http://www.rootsweb.com/~nccumber/aker2.htm ). It states that Janet McAlister married Dr. John A McMannen.··· Janet married Dr. LeRoy Dewitt McMannen, son of Rev. John A McMannen (or Orange County, NC). The part where they separated fits because Leroy and Rosa are list in the 1870 census living with his parents in Durham. How can I find out where Janet is buried. Leroy is buried at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham. He served as an assistant surgeon in the War, first with NC Troops then with 24th Georgia, the medical unit.Mary-jo Hall  March 29, 2002

SEAWELL / AUTRY
I am wondering if you know anything of a Shepard SEAWELL (?Sewell) who married Mary Polly AUTRY in Cumberland Co., NC in 1822, had Marshal Hooks Seawell and Mary Elizabeth Seawell, and died in 1833. He lived near Fayetteville. Cannot find him on any censuses, but after his death, his widow resides in same residence as that of a William Seawell listed on 1820 - 1830 Census for Cumberland Co. Mary Polly Autry was sister of Micajah Autry who died at the Alamo. I have copies of several land transactionf or Shepard from about 1819 through 1832, all in Cumberland Co., which property was eventually sold by a grandson, James Madison Seawell, to the Singer Sewing Machine Company in Fayetteville. I would love to hear from you if you have any info on Shepard Seawell. Thanks a million. Carol Roberts  March 16, 2002

KEEN / FAUCETTE
I am searching for any information on Calvin KEEN married to Cornelia (possibly FAUCETTE). After Harnett County was formed from Cumberland County, he resided in Anderson's Creek, Harnett County. (1880 Census) He was born approx. 1849. Sandra Rex   February 18, 2002

CAMPBELL / McLEAN
Based on various findings I think the eldest Daniel Campbell in the Cumberland Co., NC Census of 1800 may have been the father-in-law of one Neill McLean who married Mary Campbell to whom he gave land in Christian Co., KY in the late 1700's or early 1800's. If so he is possibly the brother of Collin Campbell listed in the Wake Co., NC Census of 1800. This Collin Campbell could be my gggg grandfather who migrated to Sumner Co., TN by 1806 and whose daughter married John McLean, son of Neill McLean. Any help proving or disproving these suppositions would be gratefully appreciated. James Campbell   February 13, 2002

WILLIFORD
I am doing research on my mother's family. ... The only information that I have is that there was a John WILLIFORD in Cumberland County in 1790, and that my great grandfather was John WILLIFORD. There was also a Richard Williford in the 1790 Census. My first cousin's name was Richard. My great grandfather may have been born around the Civil War Period. They were living in Eastover.

My grandfather was not an attorney but almost all of his brother's were attorneys. I am related to Mabon Williford the attorney. He has passed away, but his two sons still practice in Fayetteville. Thank you for your help. Linda Gayle Tart Cooper   February 11, 2002

WILKINSON
I am looking for information with regard to Neille WILKINSON who lived in western part of Cumberland County circa 1790 apparently around the nexus of Richmond, Hoke, Cumberland and Scotland counties. Family rumor is that he owned land which was later part of Ft Bragg and he is supposedly to have been buried in a cemetery in the area. Letter from him to son Allen indicates he was educated man. another son indicates originally part of Clare McKuilcan. Deceased 1820. His son is Neil Wilkinson Jr who died in 1846. Neille's father may have been Angus Wilkinson. Please e mail if you have information. Thanks Mike Wilkinson   February 01, 2002

PORTER / WALKER / BENSON
I was wondering if you might know where I could possibly find out about my grandfather. His name was William PORTER. He was from Kelly, North Carolina. My grandparents, William Porter and Dovie WALKER, were not married, and Dovie gave my father, Luther James PORTER, away when he was one week old. He was raised by Sally BENSON. My father never spoke to his children about his real father, but he always knew that William was his father. He knew that he was given away at birth. I have researched and researched for William Porter and Dovie Walker and ran into a stone wall each and every time. I would give anything if I could find out the dates that they lived on this earth. I understand that every July there is a big Porter family reunion at White Lake. I dont know if these are relatives, but maybe one day I'll have time to be there in July and ask a few questions. My father died in 1968. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Charles Porter Hometown: Fayetteville, NC   Posted December 25, 2001
