Seeking information on Ann C. PORTER. She was born Dec. 11, 1808 and
died Jun. 20, 1864. She is buried in the Hope Mills Cemetery, Hope Mills,
NC. She married James STORM. James died circa 1840. He was the son of John
Storm (b.c. 1750 d. Nov. 26, 1819) and Jemimah Chauncey (b.c. 1760) of
Robeson county. Could Etheldred Porter (b.c. 1786 in VA. and died Jan.
1870 Cumberland county, NC) be Ann's father. Etheldred wife's name was
Rebecca. Ann C. Storm is listed in the 1850 census for Cumberland county.

Searching for the parents of James M. KING and Mary KING. Tradition
has it that James M. KING was born in Cumberland County, North Carolina,
circa 1825. James married Jennett F. HAYDEN (a descendant of BETHEA and
ROBY families) on July 25, 1847 in Stewart County, Georgia. He later married
Mary Ann TEMPLE in Decatur County, Georgia. With Jennett, he had children,
John, Allen Bethea, Martha Frances, George, and Henry Preston. With Mary
Ann, he had children, David T., Benjamin B., and Julia H. James was somehow
related to Mary KING (most likely an older sister, but could have been
his widowed mother), born in North Carolina, presumably Cumberland County,
circa 1804. Mary KING married John WHITAKER (born in Georgia circa 1794)
in Early County, Georgia on January 27, 1828. John WHITAKER and Mary KING
had children, Sarah, Susan, Sanderson, Joseph, Allen and David. Both James
M. KING and John WHITAKER located to Decatur County, Georgia from Stewart
or Early Counties, Georgia about the same time, circa 1857-1858. It seems
that everywhere Mary KING went, James M. KING would go. I am related to
both the KING and WHITAKER line. Please help if you can.

Rev. Allan MCDOUGALD served at two Cumberland County Presbyterian churches,
Old Bluff (1810 - 1844) and Sardis (1826-1836) as noted elsewhere on these
Cumberland County pages. His wife was Catherine MCLEAN and his son, Neill,
was the father of my great grandmother, Isabella MCDOUGALD (1845-1930 m.
David Gillespie ROBESON). I have some information on Rev. MCDOUGALD, but
nothing concerning his origins. Some indications are that he came directly
from Scotland, but these are vague at best. Request anyone with such information
contact me.

Seeking info on family of Benjamin CHAPMAN who was born 10 March 1779
in (supposedly) Amelia Co., VA. Married 20 May 1802 in Fayetteville, Cumberland
Co. NC to Isabella Gee. He died 9 Sep. 1846 in Cumberland Co. NC (so far
as I know). Children: Mary Ann 1804, Catherine 1805, James Henry 1806,
John Robert 1808, Sarah Marie 1810, William 1811, Benjamin 1814, Isabella
Gee 1816, Washington 1818, William David 1820, Margaret 1821. Most of these
children moved on to Jackson Co., FL.

Looking for any info on Richard RYALS 1748-1816, his son Lovett RYALS
1797-????, and Lovett's son John Lloyd RYALS All these men from Cumberland
Co.,NC. Did any of these men have a br. William that moved to GA after
Rev War? Say Tattnail or Montgomery Co in particular? I don't know their
siblings at all. Richard was my gr.gr.gr.grandfather.

on Norvin Alexander JONES and Vera COOPER; both of whom were born and raised
in Cumberland County, NC. We know they were married and had four children.
She died around 1941. Any information at all would "greatly"

John Wesley GRADDY b 10/16/1882 in Fayetteville, m Amanda Frances AMOS
b 3/22/1886 in Fayetteville. Four children were born of that marriage,
viz: Ruth, Catherine,Thelma and John. Ruth married John HATCHELL but they
divorced in 7-years. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who connects
with this family.

James Leighton HATCH b 8/7/1906 in Cumberland Co. married Willie Johnson
6/14/31 in Cumberland Co. Two children were born of that marriage, James
and Thomas Leighton. For 30 years they operated a bakery in downtown Fayetteville.

Isabella Catherine POWELL b 5/2/1862 married Robert Francis AMOS 1/11/77
in Rockingham Co and eight children were born of that marriage, viz Annie,Cora,Della,Amanda,Lena,Esker,Ernest
and Paul (my father) Robert F. had first married Elizabeth Powell in 1872
but she died in childbirth in 1875. Catherine and Isabella were sisters
and daughters of James and Narcissa Powell of Rockingham Co. I would appreciate
hearing from anyone who connects to that family.

We are researching the Bass' of Flea Hill, Cumberland Co, NC. Sely was
the mother of our Wiley, Quinn, etc. but we have been unable to find confirmation
that Moses was the father. Can anyone out there help us out? They moved
to Georgia from North Carolina.

Henry HOLLEMAN b. July 24, 1813, in VA. He was living in Cumberland
Co, NC when he married Elizabeth COTTEN, b. Feb 5, 1813, in Chatham Co.
NC. Elizabeth is the daughter of Gabriel COTTEN and Milly (?). (Gabriel
was the son of Seth and Rebecca AVENT Cotten.) Henry and Elizabeth's children
were all born in NC, prior to their moving to Rose Bud,White County, AR.
Their oldest daughter, Sarah Jane, b. Nov 13, 1835, did not go with the
family, but and remained NC and married a COTTEN. The other children in
this family were Mary Ann, John Monroe, Rebecca Catherine, William Henry,
Martha Isabell, Manley Elizabeth, George Washington, Nancy Hasseltine,
and Andrew Jackson. I would like to find out who were Henry's parents and
siblings.

Looking for Stephen Hayes THOMPSON (possibly MAPLES) THOMPSON is his
mothers maiden name. Stephen THOMPSON was b 11/29/1866 in Fayetteville
Cumberland co NC. He died 10/24/1936 in Lenoir co NC. He married 4/21/1889
to Octavia HARDY b 1/6/1868 Lenoir co NC d 2/19/1948. Please help if you
can. This is my brick wall! His mother is possibly Martha THOMPSON (this
is all I know of her) His father is possibly Wesley MAPLES. Thanks in advance.

Looking for info on the BREECE - PAGE connection. Have David James BREECE
(15 Feb 1863 - 24 Mar 1942) who married 1st) Hattie Cooper PAGE (8 Nov
1859 - 19 Jan 1892) and 2nd) her sister Berilla Eva PAGE (24 Feb 1875 -
1 Jun 1953). Breece is from Fayetteville, NC and his families lived there
though the two sisters were from Clinton (Sampson County). His first wife
died during childbirth. We know that David and Berilla are buried at Cross
Creek Cemetery, Fayetteville (Cumberland County) but can't find info on
his marriage to Hattie or where she is buried. When she died, her family
(PAGE) was not settled in a permanent homestead but living in Piney Grove,
NC. It wasn't until 1864 before her family moved to Clinton. But since
BREECE is a prominent Cumberland County surname, wondered if he buried
her in a family plot there? ANY info would be appreciated, no matter how
small of a lead!

Searching for anyone that can remember, or has information on H.G. WEST,
b about1875, died about 1950, wifes name was Novella. He had a brother
named Willie WEST. His sons were Alton, Vance, Robert, Cleave and daughter
Margrete, all were from Cumberland Co. They called H.G. WEST (Herb). Any

Would like any information on David Steadman, He was my G Grandfather.
All I know about him he was born about 1880 in Laurel Hill and died August
4, 1933. would like to know where he is buried. He was married to Fannie
Kelly who was born on December 14, 1882 and died Jan.14, 1975. Their son
Luther D. Steadman was my Grandfather. Would appreciate census infor, burial

Looking for information on John TOLAR b.1762 and d.1828 in Cumberland
Co., NC. He had 10 children by first wife Nancy and 3 by second wife Ann.
His children were: John, Jr. b. 1782 (married Martha Armistead?), William
b.1783 (married Nancy Martin in MS), Isaiah b.1785 (married Anne Faison),
Henry b.1789 (married Kitsy Magee in MS), Nancy b.1792 (married Isaac Thagard),
Sally b.1794 (married Isaac Jessup, Jr.), Needham b.1800 (married Fereby
Jean Pope), Ann b.1801 (married Sampson Boon), Robert b.1804 (married Mary
Frances Autry), Katherine b.1810 (married William Edge), Joseph Thames
b.1822 (married Sarah Williams), Semion b.1824 (unknown) and Harriet b.1826
(married Gurdon Thagard). Most of John's children settled in Cumberland
and Bladen County, NC and raised their families, although a couple went
to MS. Would like to share information with anyone having connections to
these families.

Looking information on Cintha PHELPS and Tisdale THOMAS who were married
Nov. 20, 1817 in Cumberland County, NC. Tisdale was son of Philip THOMAS.
Their children were Adaline, John and Angeline. Cintha was born about 1800
and died about 1868.

Searching for two brothers or children of Otha W. and Alton C. PARKER.
Birthdates unknown but believed to be early 1920s. Their father was Otha
W. PARKER of Harnett County b.5/28/01 d.1926 buried at Maxton,NC. It is
believed the two PARKER brothers were in the insurance business in Fayettville.
