ABIGAIL POE DEED - 1897

This is a record of deed transaction from my gr. gr. gr. grandmother, Abigail Poe, in
Cumberland County NC, (African American Family). Property was sold to her in 1893 from
Mr. Worth and his wife Fatima. Abigail was born in 1813 NC. My grandmother was born on
a portion of this property in 1905. The property was located on Worth Street, Fayetteville, NC.

This indenture made this the 25th day of May in the year eighteen hundred and ninety seven
between Abigail Poe of the County of Cumberland and State of North Carolina of the one part and
Abraham Poe of the County of Cumberland and State of North Carolina of the other part.
Wherewith: That the sold part of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of nine
Dollars, to the said party of the first part in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged
paid, sold, and surveyed and the said party of the second part h? heirs, and ? , all that tract or
parcel of land lying in the County of Cumberland and the State of North Carolina bounded as follows via:
Beginning at the southeast corner of the land of Mumford the first ? and conveyed to her by ? Worth and
wife by deed dated August 8th 1893 ? recored in Book of Deed pags 637 Register of Deeds office of
Cumberland County to which reference is hereby made and runs ?88 ? with the south line of said tract to a
stake and fourth the distance between said southeast corner of said tract ? is down one fourth of said
distance from said southeast corner. Hence North and East to a stake in the ? line of said tract to
the North east corner of same. Hence with the east line of said tract ot the beginning containing one
half acre more or less it being the intention of the party of the first part to convey herein and half
acre consisting of a strip of land of ? width on the eastern side of the above described lot.

And all for the estate, right, title, interest, claim, demand, dower and right of dower om ;aw or equity
or otherwise howsoever of the said Abigail Poe party of the first part of, is, and to the same and every
part and parcel thereof. To have and to hold the same, with the appartessesors there? belonging to them
the said party of the second part. This ? and assigns forever. And the said Abigail Poe party of the
first part, for the consideration aforesaid do hereby convenant and agree to and with the party of the
second part, his heirs and assigns to warrant and defend the premises aforesaid to the said party of the
second part, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns against the claim and entry of all persons
whatsoever. And she do hereafter covenant that she is ? of the premises is fee simple and had power to
convey such an estate by this indenture and had done by the same presents to the said Addie Poe and
Abraham Poe
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said party of the first part as hereto set ? bond and real the day and
your above written.
