Col. Alex. Murchison, of Cumberland, has raised a company of 200 Cavalry, who furnished their
own horses and equipments. Only 110 however have been accepted, that being the number fixed for a
company. Their swords, it is said, are made by the blacksmith of Mr. John Elliott, of that County,
out of circular steam saw steel. Col. Murchison is now somewhat advanced in life, but there is yet
in him the ring of the right metal.
