HON. WARREN WINSLOW
The articles on this page were published January 08, 1862 Issue: in the Weekly Standard, a Raleigh,
North Carolina newspaper. W. W. Holden, Editor. Extracted by Myrtle Bridges March 06, 2003
From the Fayetteville Observer we learn that Hon. Warren Winslow has resigned his seat in the Convention.
We regret to hear the Mr. Winslow's health is seriously impaired. The Observer states that it has been requested
by several gentlemen to propose the name of William M. L. McKay, Esq., as his successor. While Cumberland and
Harnett have many able and worthy gentlemen, highly competent to fill the seat of Mr. Winslow, they perhaps have
no fitter man for the post than Mr. McKay, and none perhaps, for whom the people of all parties would more readily
vote. He is a sound, reliable son of the old North State, and an able man. We hope that he will consent to serve,
and that the people will elect him.
