Abstracts of Deeds of Cumberland County, North Carolina, Vol. 2, Books 4-7 - 1770-1785, by William C. Fields
Book 7, p. 170: May 1, 1784 Mortgage - Daniel McLain to Neill Shaw, both of Cumberland County,
for L40 North Carolina Security: 35 head of cattle, commonly called black cattle. Money to be
repaid with interest before 22 October next.

Book 7, p. 320: Daniel McLean witnessed a Deed of Gift, January 1780 - Anguis Molloy, planter,
of Cumberland County, to his son John Molloy, livestock.
Book 7, p. 474: 1785 - Arch'd McLain (McLean), of Cumberland, to John smith, of Cumberland, for
L100, 50 acres on upper side of Upper Lower River by a branch a little above said McLean's improvements;
patent to Neill Ray 27 October 1773. (Also signed by Neill Ray and Margaret Ray).

"the" school house path.
April 4, 1784 - Niell McLean enters 29 acres on branch of Deep Creek; includes his own improvements.
July 2, 1784 - John McLean enters 150 acres on both sides of Upper Little River; includes his own
improvements.
July 27, 1784 - Hugh McLaine enters 100 acres on North side of Great Rockfish Creek, near the road
that crosses at Coles Bridge on Drowning Creek.
December 18, 1784 - J. MacLean enters 50 acres on Dobbins Creek; includes his own improvements; warrant
issued.
May 10, 1785 - Soloman McLean enters 200 acres; border his own corner, Daniel Parrott, Coan (or Evans)
and on Horsepen Br.
December 1, 1785 - Arch'd McLean enters 50 acres on southwest side of Upper Little River; near his own
improvements and McDougald's line.
January 24, 1786 - Hugh McLaine enters 50 acres on both sides of Great Rockfish Creek; border his own line.
June 13, 1787 - Arch'd McLaine enters 100 acres where McGill built a house at S prong of Carver's Creek;
between Frdk Grigg and Colvin Shaw
November 4, 1787 - Niell McLean enters 25 acres on south side of Great Rockfish Creek; includes his own
improvements.
November 15, 1787 - Duncan McLean enters 50 acres on both sides of Upper Little River; border William
McKay's upper line.
December 26, 1787 - John McLean "M" enters 150 acres on both sides of Upper Little River, between his
own line and William McKay.
December 28, 1787 - John McLean "M", enters 50 acres on both sides of Upper Little River; border
Daniel Beacon's upper line.
January 3, 1788 - Daniel McLean enters 100 acres on both sides of S prong of Jumping Run; between
the big Beaver Dam and mouth of Horsepen Br.
March 10, 1788 - John McLean enters 50 acres on Upper Little River; border his own line; includes
his own improvements.
June 21, 1790 - Daniel McLean enters 100 acres on "the" two forks of Big Branch of Barbicue Creek
on both sides of said forks.
(No Date) About February 1791 - Malcolm McLean enters 100 acres; border Hugh Ray, Niell Thompson,
Duncan Ray and Norman Morrison.
August 3, 1791 - John McLean enters 100 acres between Miller and Big Br.; border Angus Molloy's
upper line and "the" mill path.
August 18, 1791 - Daniel McLean enters 50 acres on SW side of Jumping Run; near and below path
to Daniel Shaw's from his own house.
August 22, 1791 - Daniel McLaine enters 50 acres on fork of Marsh Br. and Drowning Creek; includes
"a certain" flat.
September 9, 1791 - Niell McLean enters 200 acres on Flat Branch and Piney Root Branch; border
Ehemory Germany and Francis Walker.
September 17, 1791 - Hector McLean enters 50 acres; border his own back line and "surplus within
his lines".
September 25, 1791 - John McLean "miller" enters 150 acres on south side of Upper Little River;
border his own line.
September 25, 1791 - Arch'd McLean enters 50 acres; near his own line.
November 19, 1791 - John McLean enters 50 acres; border Belowl's back line.
May 28, 1792 - John McLean enters 50 acres in fork of Dobbin's Big Branch on N side of Upper Little River.
