Interested in information about Malcolm McCRANEY b. ca 1772 NC married
to Mary b. ca 1785 lived in Cumberland County with son, Daniel b. ca 1803.
Mary shows up as head of household in Cumberland County census of 1800,
with other younger girls and boys. She would be 15 at the time and Malcolm
would be 28. Any information would be helpful, especially parents.

12/20/1851 in GA. William TAYLOR and family moved to Coffee Co., Alabama

Seek parents of James T. SNIPES, born 1806, died ca. 1875. Listed in
Cumberland County in 1850 and 1870 census; listed in Harnett County in
1860 census. Believe to be same James SNIPES that married Elizabeth COLLINS
(Collis) on January 22, 1834 in Cumberland County. Son, James N. SNIPES,
born 1844 (from second wife Mary Jane), Confederate veteran, died 1868,
buried in old Averasboro Cemetery near Erwin in Harnett County on north
bank of Cape Fear River. Third wife was Martha Jane WRIGHT born October
8, 1835 and died April 12, 1913 in Harnett County. Son, Alexander Campbell
SNIPES, born February 27, 1869 in Averasboro Township of Harnett County,
died September 24, 1956, was last of the Cape Fear river raftsmen as documented
by Malcolm Fowler in his book, "They Passed This Way".

I'm looking for information on Charity BABB and Gideon VAUGHN. Charity
BABB died in Cumberland County on March 17, 1876. Her husband, Gideon VAUGHN,
died in Cumberland county in July 1857. I would like to know who the parents
of Charity were. I would also like to find death certificates for Charity
BABB and Gideon VAUGHN.

probably born in SC, but moved to NC (Cumberland County) where he settled.
Married Leslie Jennette (?) circa 1870. His children included Duncan James
NORTON b: Oct 1897 d. June 1975. Duncan married Beulah Jane CULBRETH in
Cumberland County, date unknown.

I'm looking for information about Owen TUDOR who lived in the part of
Cumberland County that became Harnett County in 1855. They lived in the
part on the Wake County line. In the 1850 census he was living with a Truelove
family in Cumberland.

Seeking info on Peggy WILLIAMS b.1855. She married Amos Threadgill in
Anson Co. around 1878, She had several children prior to marrying Amos.
They were Susan b 1870 and Henry b. 1878. Her sister's name was Della WILLIAMS.
Della's child was William b. 1878. Early census and court records show
the WILLIAMS family in Cumberland and Sampson Counties as far back as the
late 1700s. Any info on this family would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for the parents of Torquil (Tuttle, Turle, Turquill) McLEOD
(McLOUD, MacLEOD). He was born either in Scotland or in Bladen County in
1811 or 1813. He married Sarah HAINEY who was born in Cumberland Co. 1812
and is buried there. Their children were Joseph Erwin (Ervin) b.4/28/1845,
John Ballentine b. 1836, Malcom Layafette b. 1835, Margaret (Peggy) Ann
b.1838, Wright b. 1839, William Downing b. & d. 1844. I would really
like info. on Torquil's parents. All we know is that he was a McLEOD and
he was married to a McKETHAN.

William Bright SURLES, was a native of the part of Cumberland Co that
became Harnett, (placenames may include Carvers Creek, Stormy Run,as well
as the Black River). His parents were Robert SURLES and Elizabeth BUSHEE
SURLES, ( dau of Consider (d. 1846) and Patience BUSHEE). William Bright
SURLES may have been married and had children before he moved to Durham,
NC. His second wife was Bettie HARRIS of Granville(m.1881), with whom he
had four sons. William B. SURLES died around the turn of the century. I
am particularly interested in the first marriage.

a Martha Annie DOUGLAS b. 1832 in NC. They have three sons Silas Atlas
Rollins b. 1851 in Fayetteville, NC and d. in Montgomery, AL, John Carson

My g-grandmother was Laney Elizabeth PERRY b.10-27-1853 and d.3-24-
1941. She m. "Mr. Prigeon", but divorced him and resumed her
maiden name, PERRY. My grandfather was Charles Henry PERRY b.5-5-1891,his
father was native American. Who was his father? Who was Laney's father?
She married a NUNNERY in Harnett Co., at age 67. She managed a farm inherited
from her father in Robeson Co. and traded horses and mules in Fayettville
at the market. Her son, Charles PERRY, m. Vallie WICKER of Hope Mills.
Am willing to share whatever I have.

Searching for the names of Gilbert & Margarett McKENZIEs children.
Gilbert b.1740 (Sct) & Margarett b.1747 (Sct) immigrated in 1774 to
Wilmington, NC. Gilbert was a loyalist who raised his family in Cumberland
Co. after the War with the McKENZIE families of Alexander, Daniel, Donald,
Duncan, Hugh, John, Katherine & Sarah. Gilbert & Margarett had
a family of at least 3 boys & 4 girls by 1800. I am looking for the
names & birth order of their children and inter-family relationships
with the other McKENZIE families in Cumberland & New Hanover Counties.

Robert Francis AMOS and his second wife, Isabella, moved from Chatham,
Va to Reidsville, NC in 1855 and from Reidsville to Fayetteville in 1888
where 4 of their 8 children were born, viz, Lena, Ernest Robert, Paul &
Esker. I understand that R.F. Operated a barrel business. I would appreciate

I am looking for background on JOHNSON. I can go back on my grandfathers
mothers side but not the fathers side. My father Carl Eugene JOHNSON, 4/24/36

Looking for any info, particularly a death date for James PHILLIPS (b
abt 1798 of NC). He was last known to be in the Aug 1870 Randolph Co. Census
in Columbia Township. At that time he was 80 yrs old & was listed as
"No Occupation". Previously he was in the 1860 Cumberland Co.,
NC Census as a cooper. James was married to Mary ____ who was b. abt 1802.
They had at least 3 children: Catherine, Martha & Malinda. I descend
through Catherine, who md. Fleet JOHNSON 22 Oct 1857 in Cumberland Co.,
NC. Would like to know if James originated in Cumberland Co. & any
other family info.

Seeking information on James Hayward ROUSE born in Cumberland Co. He
was married to Mary Elizabeth WISE. This union produced at least one child,
Martin Hayward ROUSE (b. 8-11-1849 in Cumberland County). Martin married
Sara Elizabeth ATKINSON (b. 5-29-1852 in Cumberland County) on 5-3-1873
in Fayetteville. Sara's father was Col. Calvin Wesley ATKINSON (B.1804
and d. 1892 in Cumberland County). Her mother was Mary Elizabeth (or Zelpha)
DRIVER (b. 1813 near Wilmington, NC, d. 1858 Hope Mills, NC). Martin and
Sara both died in Mississippi. This is most of the information I have.
I'd appreciate more on brothers and sister. I have never been able to tie
this family with any other Rouse genealogy.
