A SAD DEATH - 1896
Fayetteville Observer, July 24, 1896
January 26, 2010 Myrtle Bridges
A telegram to Col. Thos. H. Sutton from Cordele, Georgia conveyed the sad news of the death of his
oldest son, Mr. Junius Davis, at that place this morning.
The news was a severe shock to the family and his numerous friends and schoolmates here, no warning whatever
of the approaching end having reached here in fact the telegram stated that it was very sudden.
The remains will be brought to this city for interment, through no hour has yet been fixed for the funeral.
'Tis indeed sad, a young man, a great favorite with every one who knew him, of brilliant mental endowments,
with a most promising future, suddenly cut off in his 22nd year. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy
of the entire community in their great affliction.
It has been nearly a year since young Mr. Sutton went to Cordele to occupy a position with the Cordele Cooperage
Company, with which he has been ever since.
