State of North Carolina}
     To the Sheriff of Currituck County Greeting. You are hereby commanded to take the body of Joseph STOW late of your County. Yeoman (if to be found in your Bailiwick) and him safely keep so that you have him before the Judges of the Superior Court of Law and Equity, to be held for the District of Edenton at the Court house in Edenton on the first day of May next; then and there to Answer Shibboleth DRING (who sues by his Father and next friend) of a Plea wherefore with force and arms he made an assault upon the said Shibboleth & him did beat wound and evilly treat so that his life was greatly dispared. Damages one hundred pounds Specie.  herein fail not; and have you there this Writ. Witness Blake BAKER Clerk of the said Court at Edenton the XIth day of November in the IXth year of the Independence of America Anno Domini 1784.
