1 Oct 1866 - 1 Oct 1867 - W.E. DOZIER, guardian to John BROCKETT, paid $5.00 for tuition.
1 Dec 1870 - Received of Wm. E. DOZIER, guardian to the BROCKETT heirs, $10.25, their tax for 1870. /s/ T.F. BAXTER, Sheriff
1 Jan 1871 - Dec 1871 - William DOZIER, guardian to John T. BROCKETT. Mentions paying tuition for ward at 121/2 cents per day.
1 Jan 1871 - Dec 1871 - William DOZIER, guardian to Lizzie BROCKETT. Mentions paying tuition for ward at 10 cents per day.
21 Mar 1872 - Receipt. Received of William E. DOZIER, guardian to John T. BROCKETT, $3.00 for making two suits of clothes. /s/ Jannie BARNARD
NOTE: According to Currituck County's marriage records, Gideon L. Brockett married Louiza Dozier on May 10, 1855. The 1860 Princess Anne Co., Va. census shows G.L. Brockett, age 27, Louisa E. Brockett, age 24, John T. Brockett, age 3, and unnamed female Brockett twins age 3 months. G.L. Brockett is also shown in the 1860 Slave Census with 6 slaves. The value of his real estate was listed at $4000 and his personal property at $3065.
