Elizabeth Brumsey - 1884

13 June 1884 - Application for Letters of Administration.  We, the undersigned, the only heirs at law of full age of Elizabeth BRUMSEY, decd, are entitled to Letters of Administration on her estate, do renounce our right of same in favor of our friend Jno. B. JARVIS and ask that you grant letters to him.  /s/ Willie BRUMSEY, Laura BALLANCE (Administrator's Oath was administered to John B. JARVIS the next day)

12 July 1884 - Account of Sales of the estate of Elizabeth BRUMSEY, decd. [Five pages of items were listed]

22 Nov 1884 - Account of Sales of Corn from the estate of Elizabeth BRUMSEY, deceased, which amounted to $73.83.  /s/ John B. JARVIS, Admr

12 July 1884 - 12 July 1886 - The estate of Elizabeth BRUMSEY, decd., in account with J.B. JARVIS, administrator.  The whole estate amounted to $383.77 and was divided among Laura BALLANCE, James BRUMSEY, Willie BRUMSEY who is of age, and Cora BRUMSEY who is a minor, heirs at law of said deceased.  /s/ J.B. JARVIS, Admr

12 July 1886 - Received on this day from J.B. JARVIS, administrator of the estate of my mother, Elizabeth BRUMSEY, deceased, the sum of 94 cents, it being the balance due me as heir of her estate.  And I further certify that I have heretofore received the following, to wit: $80.00 on June 17, 1885 and $15.00 on March 15, 1886, making the whole sum of $95.94 in full of my distributive share in her estate.  /s/ James BRUMSEY

12 July 1886 - Received on this day from J.B. JARVIS, administrator of the estate of my mother, Elizabeth BRUMSEY, deceased, the sum of 73 cents, it being the balance due me as heir of her estate.  And I further certify that I have heretofore received the following, to wit: $70.47 on July 26, 1884, $8.37 on Dec. 16, 1884 and $16.37 on March 13, 1886 for which my husband gave receipt, making the whole sum of $95.94 in full of my distributive share in her estate.  /s/ A.W. 12 July 1886 - Received on this day from J.B. JARVIS, administrator of the estate of my mother, Elizabeth BRUMSEY, deceased, the sum of 94 cents, it being the balance due me as heir of her estate.  And I further certify that I have heretofore received the following, to wit: $70.00 on Aug. 23, 1884, $10.00 on July 1, 1885 and $15.00 on March 15, 1886, making the whole sum of $95.94 in full of my distributive share in her estate.  /s/ Willie BRUMSEY

Fall Term 1886 - In the matter of Cora BRUMSEY.  The petition of H.B. ANSELL who states that on July 12, 1886 J.B. JARVIS, admr of the estate of Elizabeth BRUMSEY, paid into this Court the sum of $95.94 as the share of the decedent's estate belonging to the said Cora and that recently the said Cora has been sick requiring the services of a physician whose fee was paid by her brother William BRUMSEY;  that said Cora is now an infant without guardian; that the amount of the physician's bill was $32.00.  Whereas I pray that the $32.00 may be paid to William BRUMSEY.  /s/ H.B. ANSELL, C.S.C.

NOTE:  Elizabeth married Thomas Brumsey before 1860.  She was born Mar. 6, 1839 and died May 27, 1884.  She and Thomas are both buried in the Hampton Cemetery on Churches Island.
