Major John Cox - 1883

Spring Term 1883 - William C. MERCER vs. Janette STARKIE & others - Petition from William C. MERCER to set up a lost deed. And it appearing that summons had issued and due notice given and none of the defendants appeared, therefore the Court appointed E.H. LAMB as Commissioner for the purpose of making title to the land described in the petition--All the right, title and & interest of John Thomas COX in an undivided tract of swamp land, 1/4 interest in the same having descended to John Thomas COX at the death of his grandfather, Major John COX, and 1/4 of the share of Sarah DAILEY, decd, the aunt of the said John Thomas COX (being 1/8 of the whole tract), containing in all 3/8 of the entire undivided tract. /s/ Jas.
