State of North Carolina To the Sheriff of Currituck County Greeting. You are hereby commanded to take the Body of
Andrew
DUKE if to be found in your Bailiwick & him safely keep so that you have him
before the Justices of the County Court of pleas & Quarter Sessions to be
held for the County of Currituck at the Courthouse in Currituck
on the last Monday in February next then & there to answer John SLIGHT &
John SLIGHT Admr of all & singular the goods & chattels of
John H. SLIGHT of
a plea whereof with force etc. then & there & then & there broke and entered
into the Lands of said John SLIGHT &c. & then & there did cut down take &
carry away & other Injuryes to the said John SLIGHT & John SLIGHT Admr of
John H. SLIGHT, then and there did the great damage of said John SLIGHT & agt
the Peace & Damage Five Hundred Pounds & Herein fail not & have you
then & there this Writ. Witness Hollowell WILLIAMS Clerk of sd Court at
Currituck the XXVIII day of November in the XVIII year of our Independence Anno Domini 1793.

Andrew DUKE planter was attached to answer to John
SLIGHT Henry SLIGHT and Cornelius SLIGHT in a plea of Trespass vi et annis for that whereas the said
Andrew DUKE on Tenth day of February in the
year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and ninety two at the County of Currituck with force and arms did enter the
cl__ of the said John
SLIGHT Henry SLIGHT and Cornelius SLIGHT and then and there did cut down
take and carry away Twenty Cypress and Twenty Junipers to the great damage
of them the said John SLIGHT and Henry SLIGHT and Cornelius SLIGHT and other
injuries to them the said John H. SLIGHT Henry SLIGHT Cornelius SLIGHT did
then & there commit wherefore the said John H. SLIGHT Henry SLIGHT &
Cornelius SLIGHT saith that they have sustained dam. to the value of five
hundred pounds and therefore they bring this suit.
