She attended Mars Hill College where she is listed in the Class of 1944 in their yearbook, The Laurel.  Nina transferred to the University of North Carolina in 1945 where she joined the Dialectic Senate Club and in 1946 became its president.  As a senior, she was listed in the 1946 Yackety Yack yearbook as being "an attractive president of the Debate Council, member of TKA (Tau Kappa Alpha, a national honorary forensic fraternity), and a quiet and efficient leader with ideas and a willingness to work".  She received her B.A. Degree in English.  Nina married Vernon Willard Whipple c1947.  Vernon was born in Fresno, CA on Aug. 15, 1924 and died in Medford, Oregon on Dec. 4, 2000.  His obituary appeared in the Mail Tribune on Friday, Dec. 15, 2000 with his surname misspelled, however, his death announcement 10 days earlier was spelled correctly.  Nina and Vernon had a son named Daniel Bryan Whipple who was born in Fresno, CA on April 30, 1949.  In later years Daniel legally changed his name to Dandelion B. Treecraft (see his unusual obituary here).  Nina married for the 2nd time to Robert Vernon "Bob" Bouck, a widower, on Nov. 9, 1961 on Bainbridge Island, Kitsap Co., Washington (see marriage record)--this marriage ended about 10 years later.  Bob was born in Washington State on Oct. 25, 1927 and died July 2, 1997 in Washington.  He is buried in Seabold Cemetery on Bainbridge Island.
