Naval Radio Station at Poyner's
Hill | |
From the information I could find, this station was built around 1920. It was used during World War II as a Radio Direction-Finder (RDF) Station by the Navy Department from Dec. 1939 to July 15, 1945 and was then transferred over to the Coast Guard. Along with other stations along the coast, RDF receivers could intercept and triangulate the location of U-boats when they transmitted their daily reports back to France. |
