| William Walter Smith was born February 10, 1872 and died September 24, 1937. According to his marriage certificate, he was the son of Dempsey & Malissa (Hampton) Smith. He married Julia Ann Skyles at Churches Island on January 21, 1894. William and Julia are both buried in Hampton Cemetery at Waterlily on Churches Island. UPDATE: It has been brought to my attention that even though Julia Skyles Smith has a tombstone in Hampton Cemetery that she is not buried there. She died on Gwynn Island, (Mathews County) Virginia and is buried there. Her tombstone in Hampton Cemetery reads: "MOTHER" Julia Ann Smith, Wife of William W. Smith; Born 17 Nov. 1871. |
