William Jackson Walker
The photograph on the left is William Jackson Walker
who was born on Feb.
12, 1824 and died October 1, 1889 he married Julia Ann White circa
1855. Julia was born Nov. 29, 1824 and died May 31, 1903.
Together they had the following children: 1. Nathaniel J. Walker - see his information here. 2. Robert Wilson Walker was born in
April 1858 and died March 13, 1926. He married Thomasene Sanders (Sept. 1,
1876-Aug. 28, 1963) at Long Point on January 2, 1893. In the 1900
census Robert and Thomas S. Walker (female) are living in the Poplar Branch
district of Currituck County and have a 6 year old daughter named Merrie or
Marie H. and a 4 year old son named Earl D. In 1910 they are still living
in Poplar Branch and have Marie 15, Earl D. 13 and Nellie L. age 9. Robert
is listed as a carpenter. In 1920 they are still in Poplar Branch and have
Earl D. 22, Nellie L. 18, Linda J. 13, and Blanche F. age 9.
Cemetery records reveal that Robert W. and
Thomasene S. Walker are buried in the Ballance Cemetery at Waterlily. Their
son, Earl D. (1896-1947) is also buried there as well as their daughters,
Linda (Walker) Krank (Sept. 25, 1907-Jan. 1, 1974) and Blanche (Walker)
McGraw (Nov. 13, 1910-Aug. 5, 1975). The writer of "Bob Walker"
is unknown but the notation "brother of NJW" is the handwriting of
Estelle Walker. This picture was given to Ruth Walker Crain by
Estelle. 3. Adelia A. Walker was born in May 1861 and died in 1953. She married Wiley Ross (son of Thomas & Melissa Ross) in the Crawford Twp. of Currituck County on September 11. 1879. Wiley was born Jan. 14, 1852 and died July 13, 1925. |
