 Wilkins Family Photo Album
Benjamin C. Wilkins, son of Samuel Wilkins of Camden Co. according to his death certificate, was born in Camden Co. on June 30, 1936 and died Feb. 18, 1920.  He married Martha Louisa Dunton in Currituck Co. on Jan. 13, 1858.  Martha, daughter of Levin Dunton & Caroline (Simmons) Dunton, was born on Sept. 24, 1840 and died on June 22, 1928 [see her death certificate].  Benjamin & Martha lived in the Coinjock Dist. in 1860 and they appear to have lived in this area until their deaths.  They are buried in the Wilkins Family Cemetery in Barco. [Note: the 1910 Currituck census has all Wilkins in Crawford Twp. listed as "Wilkinson".]

Benjamin & Martha had the following known children:
   1. Josephine Wilkins born c1859 and apparently died prior to 1870
   2. Joseph Eggleston "Joe" Wilkins born Apr. 2, 1865 & died May 2, 1940 [see his death certificate].  Joseph married Margaret Magdaline "Maggie" Lindsey, daughter of Daniel Barnard Lindsey & Harriett Walker, in Currituck Co. on March 13, 1887.  Margaret was born on Aug. 16, 1867 & died Apr. 29, 1941. [see her death certificate They are buried in the Wilkins Family Cemetery in Barco.

Joseph Eggleston Wilkins

Reuben Madron Wilkins, son of Joseph Eggleston Wilkins

Reuben Madron Wilkins was born in Barco, NC on Dec. 4, 1887 and died in Norfolk, Va. on June 6, 1943.  He married Thelma A. Bowden.  They are buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.

Source:  The Norfolk Virginian Pilot - Thursday, June 3, 1943 - Reuben Madron Wilkins, aged 55, husband of Thelma Bowden Wilkins, died at the residence, 807 Park avenue, yesterday morning at 1:30 o'clock.  Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John D. Hulion and Miss Mildred G. Wilkins, both of Norfolk; two sons, Joseph Madron Wilkins, U.S.A., and Henry Wallace Wilkins, of Norfolk; three brothers, Benjamin Wilkins, of Norfolk, and Samuel and Joseph Wilkins, both of Currituck County, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Edward Swain and Mrs. Louise Gilikin, both of Currituck, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilkins was a native of Currituck County and had been a resident of Norfolk for 35 years.  The body was taken to the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements.

   4. Martha Ann "Pattie" Wilkins born Jan. 3, 1872 & died Nov. 10, 1950.  [see her death certificatePattie married Edmond D. Forbes at Asbury Church in Currituck Co. on May 23, 1897.  Edmond, son of Peter Dunton Forbes & Mary "Nancy" Sawyer, was born May 23, 1865 & died Oct. 31, 1941 [see his death certificate].  Pattie & Edmond D. Forbes are buried in the Dunton Cemetery in Barco.

Daniel Barnard Lindsey, son of Thomas Lindsey & Cordelia Barnard, was born in Barco, NC on April 3, 1844 and died there on Oct. 26, 1932.  He married Harriett Walker in Currituck Co. on Oct. 25, 1866.  Harriett was born June 11, 1848 & died Sept. 9, 1927.  Daniel & Harriet are buried in the Lindsey Cemetery in Barco.
