In the name of God Amen. I Jesse BARNARD of the State of North Carolina and County of Currituck being sick and weak in body but sound mind and memory thanks be to God for the same, calling to mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this instrument of writing to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following to wit.

Imprimise I lend the use of my negro man George unto my Son Samuel S. BARNARD during his natural life, also the hire of my negro man Cuffee two years also the rent of my Gipson track of land the easterd part up to a ditch during his natural life also one bed and friniture during his natural life. My will and desire is that the above mentioned property remain in my executors hereafter named hand untill they shall appoint or get some proper person to take care of my Son Samuel S. BARNARD and his property.

I give and bequath unto my beloved Wife Matilda BARNARD one horse and chair to her and heirs forever.

My will and desire that after my decease my executor hereafter named pay all my just debts and after my debts are paid all the remainder part of my estate both in doors and without of what kind or nature soever I lend the use of unto my beloved Wife Matilda BARNARD during her natural life or widowhood for the support of my Wife and children that I have had by her and in case my Wife Matilda BARNARD should get married then my said Wife to have her third of lands, and a childs part of my personal property agreeable to law.

Lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my beloved Wife Matilda BARNARD and Jonathan LINDSEY SEN. my whole and sole executors to this my Last Will and Testament hereby ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I the said Jesse BARNARD hath hereunto set my hand seal this the 20th day of Sept. 1825.

    This Last Will and Testament of Jesse BARNARD was exhibited and proved in open Court by the oaths of D. LINDSEY SEN. and Thomas POYNER witnesses thereto ordered recorded. When Matilda BARNARD came into open Court and qualified as executor thereto and ordered that letters testamentory issued
