In the name of God Amen, I Josiah BASNETT of the State of North Carolina and County of Currituck, Planter, being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory blessed be God, and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament, and as it hath pleased God to bless me in this life with such worldly estate, I give and dispose of the same in manner and form following.My soul I recommend into the hands of God that gave it and my body, I commend to the earth to be buried in a decent and christian like manner at the discrection of my executors and executrix,
Imprimis my desire and will is that all my just debts and funeral charges be honestly paid by my exector William SCARBOROUGH SEN. and Letishy SCARBOROUGH executrix whom I constitute and appoint wholy and souly
Item: I give and bequeath unto my executrix Letishy SCARBOROUGH fifteen hogs and increase after my decease
Item: I give and bequeath unto my Son Alexander SCARBOR (sic) one hundred acres of land lying on the sea side joining William WHIDBEEs line to his heirs and assigns forever and one roan mare to the said Alexander SCARBOROUGH at my decease.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Nancey SCARBOROUGH at my decease one cow and calf,
Item: I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Cassia SCARBOROUGH one cow and her increase at my decease and the rest of my houshold moveables to be equally divided between my two Daughters Nancey SCARBOROUGH and Cassia SCARBOROUGH at my deceas
Item: I give and bequeath likewise unto my two Daughters Nancey SCARBOROUGH and Cassia SCARBOROUGH at my decease fifteen sheep equally divided among them
Whereof I do hereby revoke and disannull all other writings Obligatuns, wills, testaments or legices hereto- fore made or named by me confirming this and not other to be my Last Will and Testament this 9th day of October 1782.
