In the name of God Amen, Jorg BATTEN of the County of Currituck North Carolina, being very sick and weak in or in perfect helth of body but or and of perfect mind and memory (*this is exactly how the previous sentence read) Thanks be given unto God, calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will And Testament, that is to say, Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decant christian burial at the descression of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as turching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
First I give and bequeath to Sarah BATTEN my Daughter one cow and yearling and two cows in Lake
then three cows and one heiffer to my Grand Daughter Nancy FOUNTIAN.
I give my Daughter Sarah BATTEN my hogs and land whereon I live now.
Likewise I give unto my Dafner Dilly and my Dafter Sarah one bed
to my true and well beloved Wife one feather bed and all the rest of my house hold furniture to Mary my Wife and the rest of my cattle and bees at the Lake to be eckualy divided among my them all.
and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannull all and every other former Testament will legacies bequeaths and executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament Nathan HALL exeter in witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 13th day of June one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven.
Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Jorge BATTEN as his Last Will and Testament in the and presents of us who in his presents in presents of each other have here unto subscribed our names.
