Silas Bright
Nov. 28, 1795 - April 23, 1796

In the name of God Amen, I Siles BRIGHT of the County of Currituck and State of N. Carolina being in sound mind and memory Thanks be to Almighty God for the same do therefore make and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth Viz.
first I recomend my soul to the hand of Almighty God who gave it to me and my body I give to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in a christain like manner by and at the descretion of my executors here- after mentioned named and as for my temporal estate I dispose of as followeth----
Item My will and desire is that my belove Wife Frances BRIGHT should have the use and benifit of my land and plantation whereon I now live also the land and plantation I bought of Phillip DAUGE during her natural life and after my said Wifes decease I give and bequeath all the land and plantation above mentioned to Siles BRIGHT the son of Aaron BRIGHT to him and his heirs and if he dies without heirs lawful begotten of his body I give it to my Brother John Son William BRIGHT to him and his heirs lawfully begotten of his body.
Item my will and desire is that Sary BRIGHT should have the use and benifit of my land and plantation that I bought of Cornelius DAVES during her natural life and after her decease I give and bequeath it to her Son Tully BRIGHT to him and his heirs lawful begotten of his body
Item my will and desire is that Elizabeth BRIGHT Daughter of Aaron BRIGHT should have the use and benifit of the land occupied by Aaron BRIGHT begining at a pine by the run side runing a straight course to a water oak formerly called BENNETTs line thence westerly course to a corner gum joining Aaron BRIGHT land but if she should die without heir lawful begotten of her body my will and desire is to go to her Brother Tully BRIGHT and his heirs.
Item I give and bequeath to Tully BRIGHT one tract of swamp land I bought of James BRAY to him and his heirs forever.
Item my will and desire is that my beloved Wife Frances BRIGHT and Sary BRIGHT should have the use and benefit of my cypress swamp during both of their natural lives and after both deceas I give and bequeath to Silas BRIGHT and Tully BRIGHT to be equallly divided between them both.
Item I give and bequeath to my beloved Wife Frances BRIGHT one sorrel horse and one chair and harness 1 numberillo also I give all my crop of corn and all my stock of hogs also I give all my silver plates 1 pair flowered curtains forever also I give my beloved Wife 1 walnut desk.
Item My will and desire is that after all my just debts and funeral charges be paid the rest of my whole estate not already given away to be praised and equally divided between my beloved Wife Frances BRIGHT and Sarah BRIGHT the Wife of Aaron BRIGHT to them and their heirs forever.
My will is that my Wife should have negro Dick at the praisement and I do nominate and appoint my beloved Wife Frances BRIGHT to be my executor of this my Last Will and Testament in testamony whereof I have where unto I have set my hand and seal this 28th day of November 1795
