The Last Will and Testament of Jasper CHAPLIN Powells Point, Currituck Co. State of N.C.
In the name of God Amen, I do constitute this my last Will and Testiment ______ and ______ on the thirteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and sixty eight being of sound mind and memory this day.
Item the First; I lend and bequeath to my wife Susan CHAPLIN all of my land and chattle property household and kitchen furniture, horse, hogs, and stock and every thing I possess in doors and out, to hur natural life to do with at hur own disposal for hur suport and maintanence.
Item 2. After my wifes death I then give to Sorow An LINDSEY and ______ SPRUIEL and Clara Madona JARVIS and Sarrow BRICKHOUSE my estate to be equally divided between the four named pursons this my will and desire by subscribing my name before these witnesses.

In probate court a paper writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Jasper CHAPLIN deceased is exhibited in this court for probate and the due execution thereof is proved by the examination and oaths of W.W. CHADDIC and Mary F. DOWDY two of the subscribing witnesses thereto: It is therefore adjudged by the court that the said paper writing and every part thereof is the Last Will and Testament of the said Jasper CHAPLIN and the same is ordered to be recorded and filed. Recorded July 7, 1871
