Currituck Co. Will Book 3, pp. 51-52

In the name of God Amen.

And knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows. February the 13 day 1815. and first of all I give to my well beloved Wife Lydia COOPER two feather beds and furniture and two cows and calves, and two ews and lambs, and one linen wheel and one sow and pigs and one large chest and one large iron pot, I also give her my loom and harness etc. I also lend her the use of my hand mill during her life or widowhood, and then to return to my Son Benjamin COOPER. I also give to my well beloved Wife as above mentioned all the corn and pork and wheat I have, for the support of her and her family, that she hath at this time with her. I give to Sally GREGORY my Wifes first Daughter one cow and calf and one ewe and lamb, and one linen wheel and if she dies without heir lawfully begotten of her body, the same to be equally divided between my two youngest Sons Thomas and Benjamin COOPER. I also give to my Son Malachi COOPER one young mare called Blaze. I give to my Son Benjamin COOPER all my land and if he dies without heir lawfully begotten of his body to be equally divided between Malachi COOPER and Thomas COOPER. I also give to my Sons Abner COOPER and Seth COOPER and Isaac COOPER two dollars each. I also give to my two Daughters Fanny and Lydia COOPER one ewe and lamb apiece. I also give my Daughter Susannah one feather bed and furniture and one linen wheel. I also give my three eldest Daughters Mary COOPER and Aby DOWDY and Chloe HARRIS four dollars each. And the rest of my property to be sold, and for it to go for the raising of the small children, and schooling of my three youngest boys, Malachi and Thomas, and Benjamin. I also nominate my Wife Lydia COOPER and Davis FANCHER my whole and sole executors. given under my hand and seal day and date above written.
