The Last Will and Testament of John DOUDY deceased was exhibited in open court at Feby Term 1844 and proved by the oath of Banister H. JARVES one of the subscribing evedences thereto in due form ordered recorded.

   In the name of God Amen, I John DOUDY SER. Of Currituck County and State of North Carolina calling to mind my wordly affairs, blessed be God I do make and publish this to be my last will and Testament as follows this 5 day of June 1841.

   First I give my daughter Mary DOUDY the third choice of my beds and furniture.  I also give my daughter Patsey DOUDY the fourth choice of my beds and furniture.  I also give my Daughter Lucinda the fifth choice of beds and furniture and one chest that has been called theirs.  I give my son William DOUDY my gun my watch and all my clothing.

   I lend to my wife Tamer DOUDY all of my household and kitchen furniture that I have not willed away in this will. I also lend my Wife the first choice of my horses and their increase and my horse cart during her natural life. I also lend my Wife two the first choice of my cows & calves, two of the first choice of heifers and their increase her lifetime. I also lend my Wife five the first choice of my sheep, I also lend my Wife all the tract of land I bought of Phillip BROCKETT and Wife, together with all the buildings and priviledges belonging there unto her lifetime and at her death I give all the above mentioned land and all the other things that I have lent to my Wife TAMER DOUDY to the amount of one dollar to my son Spence DOUDY and Eliza Ann DOUDY to be equally divided between them.  I also give my Wife one half of the corn now on hand also the half of the pork and bacon lard fish also half of my spinning stuff.  I also give her one half of my stock of hogs.  I also give my wife one half of crop now growing on all my land.  I also leave all my chattle property for six months credit together with my negroes to pay all my just debts and what is left to be equally divided with my Wife Tamer DOUDY and all of my children. I also lend unto my daughters Patsey DOUDY and Mary DOUDY all the Daniel SANDERSON tract of land to commence the first of January 1842.  Six years and half to be rented out yearly to raise them on then is to be now inside fence only what now is and at the end of six years I give it to be equally divided between the following children Sally Ann DOUDY, William DOUDY, Lucinda DOUDY, Patsey DOUDY & Mary DOUDY.

   I also give my Wife all the poltry now or shall be on hand.

   I make and appoint my worthy friends Banister H. JARVES and Samuel B. DOZIER executors to this my last will and Testament in witness my hand and seal
