In the name of God, Amen. I Josiah DOWDY JUR. Of the State of North Carolina and Currituck County, being sick and weak in body, but of sound mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner following.

I give and bequeath unto my Sister Grace DOWDY my land on the Banks, to her and her heirs forever. I also give unto Grace DOWDY my Sister one hundred dollars to her and her heirs forever. I also give unto Grace DOWDY my Sister one feather bed and furniture, to her and her heirs forever. I leave sixty dollars in a note to be applied in paying of my debts. I leave my mare saddle and bridle to be sold. I also leave my linen wheel, my gun and my half of a cart to be sold and the money arising from the sale of said articles to be applied to payment of debts etc. also all other articles belonging to my estate to be sold. Lastly I appoint Thomas POYNER my executor. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal 26th day of September 1818.
