Currituck County Wills
In the name of God Amen, I Amos ETHERIDGE JR. of Currituck County and State of North Carolina being sick in body but of sound disposing mind and memory blessed be the Almighty God for it, I do make and ordain this instrument of writing to be my Last Will and Testament-----
First that is to say I recommend my soul to Almighty God that gave it me and as to what estate it hath pleased God to bestow me I give and dispose as followeth-----
Item: I give and bequeath unto my two Sons John and David all my lands to be equally divided to them and their heirs forever
My will and desire is that my loving Wife should have the use and labour of my two negroes Sarah and Chloe during her life provided that she keeps the children and after my Wifes decease I give all my negroes to my two Daughters Elisabeth and Margret to be equally divided between them to them and their heirs forever, In case either of my two Daughters should die without heir my desire is that their parts should be divided between my two Sons John and David, the improvements to my Wife after my debts are paid during hir life. I also constitute and appoint my loving Wife Anne and my friend Willis ETHERIDGE my holy and sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament to see all my estate settled according to this my Last Will and the law shall require as witness my hand and seal this 31st day of October 1784.
