In the name of God Amen. I Joseph FEREBEE of the County of Currituck in the State of N. Carolina being sick in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory blessed be God do this the Twenty sext (?) day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight Hundred and Sixteen make and publish and declare this Instrument of writing to be my Last Will and Testament in manner as followeth.

Item. I lend the use of the house whereon I now live and as much of the land after Saml. FEREBEE takes his part off to my Wife as she can tend or one third of it during her life and I also give her one feather bed and furniture to her & her heirs for ever. Also I lend to my Wife Mary FEREBEE one feather bed whereon I lie during her life.  Also I give my Wife on horse called Jube and my riding chair to her and her heirs for ever. Also I lend to my Wife one negro girl called Harriet and one negro boy called Jack during her life also give her once cow and calf at home and one cow in the woods or Back Swamp also on sow and piggs first choice and all the poultry and one black table ½ dozen plates one set cups and saucers one iron pot one tea kettle ½ dozen setting chairs and one pair of Dog irons one looking glass and all the bofat furniture to her and her heirs forever. Also one pair of fire tongs & corn and pork to last her this year.

Item. I give and bequeath to my Son George FEREBEE and my Son Peter FEREBEE  after my Wifes death my land and plantation whereon I now live to be equally divided between them and their heirs forever.

Item. I give to my Daughter Betsey COWEL on cow and calf to her and her heirs forever.

Item. I give to my Daughter Frances PETTIJOHN on cow and a calf & two hundred dollars to be raised out of my estate to her and her heirs forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to my Son Peter FEREBEE my negro boy Jack after my Wifes death and on cow & calf & one sow and piggs one feather bed and furniture to him and his heirs forever.

Item. I give to my Daughter Charlotte FENTRESS two hundred dollars to be raised out of my estate & one pyde heifer & one sound mehogney table to her & her heirs forever.

Item. I give to my Son George FEREBEE my long gun & my Bibbs to him and his heirs forever.

Item. I give to Hillary FENTRESS my short gun to him and his heirs forever.

Item. It is my will that my land in Camden and all the residue of my property that has not been willed away both within doors & without shall be sold and equally divided the money arising therefrom after paying all my just debts etc. between all my children.

I also nominate and appoint my Son George FEREBEE and my friend M. SIMMONS my executors to this my Last Will and Testament In witness whereof I the said Joseph FEREBEE the testator have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day & date above written.
