In the name of God Amen. I William FEREBEE SERGNOR planter of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina being sick in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory calling to mind the morlality of man and knowing it is appointed for all men to die do ordain and appoint this to be my Last will and Testament in manner and form following VIZ First of all I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to be buried in a christian like manner at the discretion of my executors hereafter maned and touching the worldly estate it hath pleased God to bless me with. I give and dispose of as follows:
I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann PERKINS five shillings cash and that with what she has already received and made use of is her proportion of my estate to her and her heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha MUNCREEF a certain parcel of land lying on the west side of a branch that divides the lands of Joseph BAXTERs it being part of that tract of land I bought of Taylor JONES and a new entry running up said branch to a ??? pine. thence northerly across my new entry to Hillary PARKERs ??? tree with all other articles or things she has received from me and that to be her full proportion of my estate to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary BAXTER all the remaining part of that tract or percel of land I bought of Taylor JONES , and also my new entry that lies on the East of the above mentioned branch and line between her and her sister Martha MUNCREEF running from Hillary PARKERs corner as my new survey runs to a certain dividing line between the afs. land and Joel POYNERs including all the residue of the aforesaid land and entry that I have not before given, with all other articles and things she has received from me and that to be her full proportion of my estate to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my son Joseph FEREBEE all that tract or percel of land which I bought of Samuel JARVIS containing one hundred acres of land more or less, Likewise one half of one hundred acres of juniper swamp which I bought of Henry PERKINS SEN. and one half of a new entry joining him , also one third part of one entry lying on the south east side of the east creek with all other articles and things that he has received from me to him and his heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah MANNING twenty pounds ????? to be given out of my estate with all other articles and things she has received from me and that to be her full proportion of my estate to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my son William FEREBEE all my land and plantation in Camden County containing one hundred and twenty five acres of up land and six hundred and forty acres of swamp joining the aforesaid land and also one third part of an entry lying on the south east side of the East Creek one feather bed and furniture with all the cattle on and belonging to the above mentioned plantation to him and his heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my son Samuel FEREBEE all that piece or percel of land I bought of John WHITEHURST lying on the shoar and one half of one hundred acres of Juniper swamp I bought of Henry PERKINS SEN. and one half of an entry joining my son Joseph FEREBEE also all the remainder part of the land I sold John WHITEHURST joining Anthony SIMMONS, including Georges Island . Also one third part of an entry lying on the south east side of the East Creek and if Gen. Isaac GREGORY complies with his agreement and mine, I shall be willing son Samuel should sell that land on the shoar to make up the payment for a piece of land on the Indian ridge, I likewise give to my son Samuel one young horse called King and ???? two cows and calves one feather bed and furniture and all the money I have paid GEN. GREGORY as part payment for said land to him and his heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Frances DAUGE one negro girl child called Rachel, one black walnut desk, one feather bed and furniture two cows and calves to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my two sons James FEREBEE and Thomas Cooper FEREBEE all my land and plantation wheron I now live also a new survey of juniper swamp lying on the north west fork of North River containing six hundred and forty acres to be equally divided between them after their mothers decease, and if either of my two sons James and Thomas FEREBEE dies without lawfull heir of his body begotten then my desire is that his part of the land fall to his surviving brother and his heirs forever to them and their heirs forever.
Item: I leave the use of all the land and plantation whereon I now live to my beloved wife Elisabeth FEREBEE during her natural life then to return to my youngest sons as above mentioned. Also I leave all my negroes, horses, and stock of all kinds and all my movable goods both within doors and without that is not already given away to my well beloved wife Elisabeth FEREBEE during her natural life, then to be equally divided between my two sons James FEREBEE and Thomas Cooper FEREBEE, at the descretion of my executors, Also I leave one negro man Jacob that is run away to be sold if ever he is catched and the money arising from the sale of him to be equally divided between my five sons Joseph, William, Samuel, James and Thomas Cooper FEREBEE to their heirs.
*Also all my desire is that my Executors hereafter named make Joel POYNER and Jonathan TAYLOR a right and title to the remainder part of an entry joining Joseph BAXTER according to the piece marked off to them upon their paying their equal proportion of all expenses. Also if either of my two youngest sons James FEREBEE and Thomas Cooper FEREBEE should die without lawfull heir as ?? then my desire is that his part of the land be given him fall and belong to the surviving one and his heirs forever, and moveable part of the dec. estate to be equally divided anongst all the remaining or surviving sons and their heirs forever.
Lastly I do appoint and ordain my beloved wife Elisabeth FEREBEE, Joseph FEREBEE, William FEREBEE and Samuel FEREBEE my whole and sole executors of my Last Will and Testament, disannuling all will or wills except this by me made confirming this to be my Last , as witness my hand and seal this first of July anno dom 1783.
