William Ferebee
of Norfolk, Va.
Sept. 7, 1869 - Sept. 5, 1870
In the name of God Amen. I William FEREBEE of the county of Norfolk and State of Virginia being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, that is to say.
First, after all my funeral expenses are paid and discharged, I give and dispose of as follows; to wit, To my grandson Thomas J. GRANDY I give the entire annual proceeds of my farm and swamp lands lying in the county of Currituck and State of North Carolina, during his natural life. And if the said Thomas J. GRANDY marry and die, leaving a child or children, I give the said lands to such child or children forever. But if such child or children die without issue, then I give said lands to the children of my daughter Huldah and to the children of my son Edmond, dec., to be equally divided between them. Likewise I make constitute and appoint James McB. OLD to be my executor who shall rent out said lands on Jan 1st of each year, and at the expiration of every year, he shall give the proceeds to the said Thomas J. GRANDY as long as he lives a natural life. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the 7th day of September in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and sixty nine.
/s/ William FEREBEE SealThe above written instrument was subscribed by the said William FEREBEE in our presence and acknowledged by him to each of us; and he at the same time published and declared the above instrument so subscribed to be his last will and testament; and we, at the testators request, and in his presence have signed our names as witnesses hereto, and written opposite our names our respective places of residence.

Currituck County}A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of William FEREBEE deceased is exhibited for probate in the Probate Court of said County by James McB. OLD, the executor named therein, and the due execution thereof by the said William FEREBEE is proved by the examination and oath of of W.G. NICHOLAS and Wm. H. OLD, subscribing witnesses thereto. It is therefore adjudged by the Court that the said paper writing and every part thereof, is the last will and testament of the said William FEREBEE, and the same is ordered to be recorded and filed. And thereupon the said James McB. OLD, executor aforesaid, duly qualified as such by taking the oath required by law. September 5, 1870.
