In the name of God amen.
I John FORBES of the county Currituck and State North Carolina being in reasonable health and sound disposing mind and memory blessed be God do this the sixth day of December in the Year of our Lord 1852, make and publish this my last will and testament in maner and form following to wit -Item the 1. I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel FORBES the South half of the plantation where on I now live, and the north part of the said plantation to my son Peter D. FORBES to be equally divided between them the division line between them to commence at the Bay or Sound side and to run such a course as to give my son Samuel FORBES all the buildings, to them and their heirs for ever.
Item the 2. I give my son Samuel one bed and furniture to him and his heirs for ever.
Item 3. I give unto my daughter Margaret POOL one negro woman Sarah and her increase during her natural life, and at her death I give and bequeath said negro woman Sarah and her increase to all of my said daughter Margaret children then living to them and their heirs for ever.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret POOL one hundred dollars out of my estate to her and her heirs for ever.
Item. I lend unto my daughter Disey WRIGHT the following negros namely Sidney and child Ellen and their increase during her natural life and at her death I give and bequeath said woman Sidney and child Ellen and their increase to be equally divided between all of my said daughter Disey WRIGHTs children then living to them and their heirs for ever.
All the remainder of my estate I leave to be sold by my executor on a credit of six months and after paying all my just debts all the remainder to be equally divided between my four children namely Peter D. FORBES, Samuel FORBES, Margaret POOL and Disey WRIGHT to them and their heirs for ever.
And lastly I nominate and appoint my son Samuel FORBES my while and sole executor to this my last will and testament, ratifying and confirming this and no other in witness whereof I do here unto set my hand and seal the day and year above named.
