The Last Will and Testament of Charles GRIGGS deceased
Exhibited at August Term 1838 and duly proved by oath of Lancelott POYNER and of the Subscribing Witnesses in due form of Law and ordered recorded

State of N. Carolina Currituck County}

In the Name of God Amen I Charles GRIGGS of the state and county aforesaid being in reasonable health and of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for the same. Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following to wit

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel GRIGGS one piece of land adjoining the piece of land that I give my son George GRIGGS deed for, containing sixty acres more or less as laid off by a line to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph GRIGGS one piece or parcel of land adjoining my son Samuel GRIGGS land as laid off by a line containing sixty acres more or less to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my son William GRIGGS one piece or parcel of land adjoining my son Joseph GRIGGS land as laid off by a line containing sixty acres of land more or less to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Charles GRIGGS one piece or parcel of land adjoining my son William GRIGGS land the north part containing sixty acres more or less to him and his heirs forever.

Item I lend the use of my land and plantation that I bought of Jasper PICKEETT unto my wife Mary GRIGGS during her natural life and after my wife Mary GRIGGS dies I give the above mentioned land and plantation unto my son Duplin GRIGGS to him and his heirs forever.

My will and desire is after my decease my executor pay all my just debts out of my personal estate and after my debts are paid, I give all rest and remainder of my personal estate to my daughters named as follows. Abiah WHITE, Peggy MERCER, Sally GRIGGS, Emily GRIGGS, and Charlotte GRIGGS to be equally divided among them share and share alike to them and their heirs forever.

Lastly I appoint Thomas POYNER SEN. Executor of this my last Will and Testament. Given under my hand and Seal this 27th day of July 1830.
