Currituck CountyIn the name of God Amen, I Clement HILL of the County and State aforesaid, being very sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God, calling unto mind this mortality of my body, and knowing that it appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say- Principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul unto the Almighty God, that gave it and my body I recommend unto the earth to be buried in a decent christian burial at the decision of Wife-nothing doubting but at the general resurrection, I shall receive the same again by the almighty power of God as touching this worldly estate where with it has pleased God to bless me, in this life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner.
First I give unto my Wife Ruty all my moveable estate to settle all just debts and she to have the remainder.
Secondly I give my Son William five shillings with what he has had.
Thirdly I do give my Son Henry five shillings with what he has had.
Fourthly I do lend unto my Wife Ruty the plantation and house I now live on, during her widowhood or life.
I do give unto my Son Clemant HILL and Dorcas ROBERTSON at the death of my Wife and unto Dorcas Daughter Mary ROBERTSON the land to be sold at the decease of my Wife and the money to be equally divided among them the above mentioned heirs.
Lastly I do nominate and appoint my friend John CHAPLAIN as my lawful executor to my Last Will and Testament, this being the same. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 19th day of October 1822.
