Currituck County Wills
In the name of God Amen, I John HOLSTEAD, of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina calling to mind the none certainty of this life and it being once ordained for all men to die doe make and ordain this instriment of writing to contain my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth; first that is to say I recommend my soul to Allmighty God that gave it and body to be decently buried in a place where it should please my executor hereafter named, and as to what estate it hath been please God to bestow me give and dispose in manner and form as followeth Viz.
Item: I give and bequeth unto my four Sons Mathias, John, Josiah, and Reuben all my lands to be equally divid as followeth that is to say to my Son Mathias his part to be laid off where he now lives to him and his heirs forever. To my Son Johns part to be laid off on the plantation where I now live joyning the road to him and his heirs forever. To my Son Josiahs part to be laid off from John BRAYs line joyning the road to him and his heirs forever. To my Son Reubens part to be laid off from John BRAYs and joining on BUNNELLs and MORSEs land to him and his heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeth unto my Daughter Saley one bed and firnetor and one cow and calfe, one lining wheel, and one womons saddle and one chist to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeth unto my Daughter in Law Jackah CORNIS one bed and firnetor one hieffer and lining wheel to her and her forever.
Also my will and desire is that my Loving Wife Frances should have the use of all the remainer part of my personal estate during her widowhood or death and after her widowhood or death I give the afsd. personal estate to my Son Samuel and to my Daughter Edney to be equally divided to them and their heirs forever.
Also I constitute and appoint my loving Wife and my Son John my whole and sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament to see all my estate settled according to this my Last Will and the law shall require afs. witness my hand and seal this 9th day of January 1793
