The last Will and Testament of John B. JONES Dec’d

   In the name of God Amen, I John B. JONES of Currituck County North Carolina being sick but of sound and disposing mind doth make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form as follows.

   Item first I give and bequeath one half of the farm whereon I now live together with one half of the road leading from said farm by the way of Reuben WATERFIELD to the Great Marsh also one half of the swamp land that I own in the Great Swamp, my black man, one rockaway and harness, one cart and harness, one plow and harness, ten head of hogs first choice, five head of sheep, sixty barrels corn, one half of the potatoes that I raise, all the poultry that I have. I give the above to my Daughter Elizabeth F. WOODHOUSE and my Grand daughter Mary E. WOODHOUSE to them and their heirs forever.  I and bequeath the other half of the farm whereon I now live together with half of the road leading from said farm by the way of Reuben WATERFIELD to the Great Marsh, also one half of the swamp land that I own in the Great Swamp to my three daughters namely Lydia W. JONES, Georgette JONES and Emily Virginia JONES to them and their heirs forever.  I give also to my three daughters namely Lydia W. JONES, Georgette JONES and Emily Virginia JONES one bed & furniture for each one of them to them and their heirs forever.

   I leave the balance of my estate to be sold by my executors privately or publickly as they think best namely my ANSELL farm, my half of the mill on said farm, one hundred acres of land in the Wash Woods on or near Cresseys Ridge, all the land I own on Frank & Walks Island all the land I own on the beach where there was salt works near Martins Point, all my right and title into Liles Island, all the woodland I own on Indian Creek adjoining the land of Levin WHITEHURST and others my part of Long Ridge on or near Mackies Island, also the land I own in Gibbs Woods purchased by my Father Malichi JONES of Cator T. MARCHANT.

   I give to my daughter Elizabeth F. WOODHOUSE two cows & calves. I also leave to be sold all my household and kitchen furniture farming utensils all the hogs, cattle and sheep that I have not given away, also all the corn and other articles that I have not given away and after paying my just debts I leave the balance of the above property not given away to be equally divided amongst all my children and my little Grand daughter Willie Gaston JONES.

   Lastly I nominate and appoint Edmond W. JONES, Calvin B. CASON executors to this my last will and testament revoking all former wills by me made. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused my seal to be affixed the 7th day of August 1865.
