Currituck County Wills
In the name of God Amen, I Randal JONES SEN., of the County of currituck in the State of N. Carolina, Planter being weak in body but off a sound and perfect mind and memory as my body is free from pain Thanks be to God Almighty for the same, therefore calling to mind the uncertianty of life and all human once to die and after death to appear in judgement I therefor recommend my sole to Almighty God that gave it me and my body to be buried in such christian like manner as shall be to the discression of my executors hereafter mentioned and as for my worldly estate wherewith it has pleased Almighty God to bless me with I bestow in the following manner in promission----
Item I give and bequeath unto Joseph JONES the land and plantation whereon I know live begining on the sound side in Thos. JARVES line with sd. JARVES line westerly thence with TAYLORs line to the swamp southerly to Jese TAYLORs line thence easterly to the main road thence southerly to Randal JONES JUN. line thence easterly with his line to the sound thence northerly to the first station to include the whole of the tract as discribed to him and his heirs and assigns for ever.
Item I give and bequeave unto the heirs of my Daughter Darkis DOWDA now decd. one shilling sterling to them and their heirs for ever.
Item I give and bequeth to Daughter Rebeccah GIBSON Wife to John GIBSON one shilling sterling to her and her heirs for ever.
Item I give and bequece unto my Son Joseph and Mary JONES my Daughter all the ressidue of my estate that I have not heretofore given away in both within doors and without to be eaquelly divided between them to them and theirs heirs forever.
I likewise constitute make and order my Son Joseph JONES executor of this my Last Will and Testament and I do hereby disannul revoke all and every other former Testaments will or wills here tofore made by me in any wise ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixt my seal this second day of July 1798.
