Currituck County Wills
In the name of God Amen, I John LEITCHFIELD, of the County of Currituck and State of N. Carolina, being very sick and weak in helth but perfect in memory Thanks bee to God for it, calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say, principally and first of all I give and recomend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recomend to the earth to bee buried in a christen like manner at the discresion of my ex. and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give demmise dispose of the same in the following manner and form---
Item First of all I lend the use of all my lands to my well beloved Wife during her life or widowhood and att her decease or marriage all the afsd land to bee equally divided amongst all my Sons now in being namely Frank, John, Ezekiel and the child my Wife is now pregnant with if it is a boy child to them and their heirs forever.
Item I also lend the use of all my moveable property to my afsd Wife during her life or widowhood and if she sees that shee can spair any of the afsd property after paying my lawfull debts for her to sell whatever is convenant for the support of my children or to give them schooling and at her death or marriage to bee equally divided amongst all my Daughters namely Sarah, Elizabeth and Comfort and if the child my Wife is now pregnant with is a garl child to have its equall part with the above three garls
Also I likewise constitute make and ordain my friend and Brother Malachi JONES and Jacob LEITCHFIELD my whole and sole ex. to this my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this seventh day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four.
