Daniell Mecoy / Macoy of Norfolk Co., Va.
Dec. 2, 1731 - Oct. Court 1735

In the _ame of God amen I Daniell MECOY of Norfolk County beeing in my helth thinks be to God for it haveing my purfect sencs and memery Calling to mind the mortala___ of m_ body and knowing that it is ordained for all men once to die and for what it hath ples__ God to bless me with in this life I doe despose of in maner and form as followth first of all I Give and bequeath my Soul unto allmighty God that gave it me hopeing and believeing that Christ by his meretorous death and pashon did purchus Eternell Salvation for the Same and my body to the earth to be buried in Christon maner at ye desereshion of my Exectrix hear after menchened and for my worldly goods I despose off in maner and form as folloeth --

Item  I Give and bequeath unto my Son John MECOYE that plantation that he now lives on being devided by a line of marked trees beginning at a gum and Runing to CREAKMONs line to him the Said John MECOY and his heairs for Ever and I all Soe give unto my Son John MECOY my plantation at pouedence? [Providence?] in north Caralina with one hundered and fifty acers more or les to him and his heairs for Ever.

Item  I Give and bequath unto my Son William MECOYE my plantation that I now Live on and all the Remainder of my land belonging unto this tract to him the Said William and his heairs for Ever and all soe one hundered acerrs of land Called the Gum Swamp unto him the Said William and his heairs for Ever onley my wife is not be hindred of Enny prevelegs on Eney of my plantations dureing her life.

Item  I Give and bequath unto my daughter [most of this line is in a crease and can't be read] furnetude belonging to her and her heairs for Ever.

Item  I Give and bequath unto my daughter Lidiea MECOYE one fether bed and furnetude be longing to it to her and her heairs for Ever.

Item  I Give and bequeath unto my well be loved wife Christen MECOYE all the Rest of my moveble Estate within and with out not menchend to her and her heairs for Ever Revokeing all other wills by me formerly mad doe Constetute mak and order my wife my hole Exectrix of this my last will and testment as witness where unto I have Sett my hand and fixed my Seaill this Second day of desember anodomany 1731.

Currotuck Co.}   Tuesday in Ocber Ano Dom 1735

Present His Majesties Justices ----
    These may Certifie that Moses LINTON & James WATKINS Two of the Subscribing Evidences to the Within will appeared in Open Court and tooke their Oaths on the Holy Evangelists that they was precent and saw Daniel MACOY Sign Seal and declare the within to bee and Containe his Last Will and Testament and that the Said Daniel MACOY was then and [smudge] at that time of Sound & disposeing Memory and that they Saw Elizabeth WATKINS the other Subscribing Evidence Sign her name thereto at the Same time.
    Then also appd Christian MACOY Excutx in Open Court and took the Execux Oath in due forme of Law ---
    Ordered that the Honble Nathl RICE Esq. Secrty of this Province have Notice hereof and that Letters Testamty Issue thereon as the Law Directs.
