In the name of God Amen.

I Jeremiah MERCER SEN. of the County of Currituck, being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be God, do this tenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen, make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner following Viz.

First. I give and bequeath to my Son Jeremiah MERCER one silver dollar, to be raised out of my estate, to him and his heirs forever.

Item. I lend to my Daughter Mary MERCER during her life a certain piece of land, bounded as follows, beginning at a pine stump Jo. FEREBEE and Anthony SIMMONS corner, runing north westwardly to a large persimon tree in the plantation, and so on straight to a ditch, and thence with said ditch south eastwardly to an other ditch, thence eastwardly straight to the first station, for her to live on during her natural life, and at her heath, I give the same to William G. MERCER and her heirs forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to my Son William G. MERCER all my land the lyeth north of the string of juniper rail fence, straight each way, as the juniper fence now stands to him and his heirs forever, which will cover the land I lent M. MERCER.

Item. I give and bequeath to my Son Cornelius MERCER, all my land, lying on the south side of the juniper fence, which I bounded W. G. MERCER, which will cover the buildings whereon I now live to him and his heirs forever, also, I give to said Cornelius MERCER one negro woman named Comfort, and one negro woman named Peg, and one negro boy named Forten, and negro girl Edy, together with all the rest of my property, within doors and without, after paying my just debts to him and his heirs forever.

And I hereby make and ordain my friend M. SIMMONS executor, of this my Last Will and Testament. I witness whereof I the said Jeremiah MERCER SEN. have to this my Last Will and Testament, set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
