State of North Carolina Currituck County, In the name of God Amen, I John MERCER being week in body, but of a sound memory Thanks be to God for it as it is appointed for all men to die, I do make and ordain this to bee my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following, First I recommend my soul to Almighty God who gave it and my body to bee buried at the discretion of my exeters
Item: I give to Henry PERKINS JR. that part of land I bought of John SIMMONS as far as this line where James CORCKMORE lived then a strait line from John COCKTONs line to Mis Letesha BELL line to a new road all the remainder part of that piec I bought of sd SIMMONS I give to Jeremiah PERKINS to them and their heirs for- ever.
I give to my Daughter Dorcas TAYLOR one negroe woman named Fillis and one negro garl ?ibett to her and her heirs forever, and my Wifes chest with all her Mothers cloaths.
I give to my cozin Jeremiah MERCER one negro boy named Jack to him and his heirs forever.
I give to John CHITTOMs Son Bennett CHITTOM one negro boy named Sandy to him and his heirs forever.
I give to my Brother in law Benjamin TAYLOR fifty pounds current money of the afsd state, all the remainder of my estate to be equally divided amongst Jeremiah PERKINS, Henry PERKINS, Dorcas TAYLOR, Jeremiah MERCER JR. and Benjamin TAYLOR SR. I hereby constitute and apoint William FEREBEE and James PHILLIPS to be my whole and sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament revoking all other will whatsoever. signed sealed and delivered in presents of, January the seventeenth day seventeen hundred and eighty eight whereof I have hereunto fixt my hand and seal.
