Reuben Morse
March 20, 1801 - Dec. 22, 1804
Currituck Co. Will Book 2, p. 250

In the name of God Amen. I Reuben MORSE of the county of Currituck and State of north Carolina being sick but of perfect mind and memory having a mind to dispose of my estate in manner and form as follows.

Item - I Give and bequeath unto my son Reuben MORSE the plantation and Tract of land whereon I now live which I purchased of James BERRY and on account of dispute afterwards arriving concerning my title hereto I repurchased the same of John HILL containing thirty five acres more or less together with seven acres of land I purchased of Caleb SIMMONS Joining to it to him and his heirs forever.

Also I Give and bequeath to my Said Son Reuben MORSE the plantation and tract of land I purchased of Dudley WHITEHEAD Containing one hundred and Fifty three acres including the marsh belonging it more or less to him and his heirs forever.

Also I give and bequeath to Said Reuben MORSE one negro man Tom two young Horses one feather bed and furniture one gun one walnut chest and Box two Cows and two Stear yearlings and fifty acres of land lying near Barleis Island more or Less by a deed and bounds to be made and executed by Evan JONES whom I Purchased the Said Marsh and having paid him and not yet received his Deed for the Same to him and his heir forever.

Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah MORSE the plantation and Tract of land that Caleb SIMMONS now lives on that I purchased of James MORRIS Together with the marsh belonging to it also the tract of land and marsh I Purchased of John WORMINGTON Containing fifty nine acres to her and her heirs Forever. Also I give and bequeath to my Said daughter Sarah one negro Girl June two young heifers that is called hers one feather bed and furniture one pine chest and five dollars cash to buy her a wheel to her and her heirs forever.

Item - I leave to my daughter Lovey STRIPES the use of my negro Girl Linder(?) one feather bed and furniture one wheel and ??? which She has in her possession one cow ten pounds cash if She hath a child then to her And her heirs forever. But in Case She doth die without ever having A child then in that case Said property to decend to my Son Reubin And daughter Sarah to be equally divided between them and their heirs forever.

Item - I Give and bequeath to my loving wife Frances one feather bed and Furniture one chest one wheel and fifteen pounds cash to her and her heirs forever.

Item - I leave the use of the plantation and tract of land I purchased of John SHIPP Alis MORSE to Negor Cator who now lives on it for the Term of ten years in case he lives so long and at the expiration of said ten years on in case he dies sooner at his death I leave the Said plantation and tract of land to be sold by my executor and the money arising from The Sale of it to be equally divided among all my children then living

I appoint make and ordain my true and trusty friend Jonathan WARD my whole and Sole executor of this my last will and Testament Revoaking disannulling and disallowing all other will or wills by me made. In witness whereof I the Said Reuben MORSE doth hereunto set my hand and seal the 20th Day of march 1801.
