In the name of God Amen. I Isaac OWENS of the county of Currituck state of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and form as follow.
Item One My will and desire is that out of the first money coming into the hands of my executor herein after names that all my just debts including my burial expenses shall be paid.
Item Two Where as I have decided the Northern part of my land twenty seven acres to my daughter, Demetrus ETHERIDGE wife of Mathias ETHERIDGE they having sold the same in my opinion this is a full share to here except as here after stated.
Item Three I give and desire to Monroe SYKES the middle share of my land or old homestead, he having paid me the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars for which he holds no receipt, said share bounded as follows, beginning at S.M. OVERTON's S.E. corner line thence south along the waters edge to a stone thence westerly to a stone at the corner of the garden thence westerly to a stone at the field gate thence westerly a straight line twelve inches west of the west gate post at the woods, thence a westerly course to a ditch twelve inches west of said ditch, thence westerly to the back line in the swamp, thence north to the Peter PARKER old line thence easterly along the Peter PARKER old line to S.N. OVERTON's N. W. corner line thence southerly and westerly to a swirly black gum thence easterly to a stone at the wire fence thence a long said wire fence to a cedar post at the public road thence same course to the waters edge on first station containing fifty acres more or less.
Item Four I loan to my daughter Virginia HAMPTON the remainder of my tract of land, it being the southern part, beginning at the waters edge at Monroe SYKES S.E. corner line thence along the waters edge south to J.W. PARKERs line, thence westerly to a stone at the road and binding said PARKERs line to the woods and a line of marked gums in the swamp to said J.W. PARKERs N.W. corner line thence down the old line north to Monroe SYKES S.W. corner line thence easterly binding the said Monroe SYKES south line to the first station at Currituck Sound containing one hundred acres more or less same to be used by my daughter Virginia and her husband Haywood HAMPTON during her natural life they to care for me while I live without any charge or compensation. At the death of my said daughter Virginia, I give and desire the said southern share of land to my grand children Henry P. HAMPTON and Allie HAMPTON to them and their heirs in fee simple. My will and desire is that no pine timber of any description shall be sold from the above described southern share of land during the natural life of my said daughter Virginia.
Item Five My desire is that all my personal property of every description shall be sold at public auction by my Executor hereafter named and after the payment of all my just debts and burial expenses I give and desire the remainder if any to be disposed of as follows. One third to my daughter Demetrus ETHERIDGE, one third to Monroe SYKES one third to my daughter Virginia HAMPTON.
Item Six I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my friend S.M. BEASLEY as Executor of this my last will and testament and ask him to settle the same according to the intent and meaning of my will.
Item Seven I hereby cancel revoke and annul any and all other wills here fore made by me, and declare this my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof the said Isaac OWENS has hereto set his hand and seal this the twentieth day of April 1906.
