In the name of God Amen, February the 24th one thousand eight hundred and three, I John PEEL of Kennekeet in the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina, being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory Thanks be given unto God, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament, that is to say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be burried in decent christian burrial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath been please God to bless me in this life I give dimise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form

First I give and bequeath unto Julia my beloved Wife the place where I now live, fifty acres of land with all my plantation improvements, during her natural life or widowhood and after her decease to belong to my Son Andrew PEEL likewise I leave her my boat to the use of her and the children, likewise I leave her my mare cubernero and ????? net for the same purpose, I likewise leave her my sheep except three head and all my household furniture, during her life or widowhood, after that to belong to my Son Andrew PEEL.

also I give unto my youngest Daughter Kittey thirty six acres of land to the north of the fifty acres belonging to my Wife joining of it

also I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth fifty acres of land lying at the sout end of the myrtle thicket likewise one feather bed.

also I give unto my Daughter Angelica one feather bed and one cow

also I give unto my Daughter Christian one feather bed

also I give unto my Daughter Huldah one feather bed

also I give unto John BARNES five head of sheep

also I give unto my daughter Kitty one feather bed

also I give all my hogs unto my Wife

also I leave a small boat frame and one gun to be sold

I appoint my Wife and Christopher FLOWERS to be executors to this my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written
