Currituck County Wills
The Last Will and Testament of Robert POINER Dec.
I Robert POINER of the county of Currituck and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say First that my executor hereinafter mentioned and named shall provide for my body decent burial suitable to the wishes of my family and friends, pay all my funeral expences together with my just debts howsoever and whomsoever owing out of the moneys that may first come into his hand as a part and ??? estate.
Item: I lone my son Nelson POYNER my land I now reside on and all the lands I own as long as he the said Nelson POINER shall live, then I give it to my two Grandchildren Luis POINER and Edline POINER at the death of Nelson POINER .
I give to Nelson POINER one young gray horse (Graham) one cow and calf, my entire stock, hogs, one bed, one cart one Buffat, one table, five flag chairs. My entire crop of corn and fodder, one plough one looking glass one pair wedges all farming utensils all cooking utensils such as pots etc.
I give to my daughter Betsey POINER to her and heirs Mary Francis POINER the sum of Five Dollars also Allice POINER the sum of five dollars.
I give my daughter Nancy POINER five dollars.
I give my wife Sally POINER my mare and colt one bed and table, one chest.
I give unto Thomas H. Benton POINER one heifer yearling and the ballance of my entire stock of my cattle I give to Nelson POINER.
I lastly do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend Benjamin T. SIMMONS my lawfull executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my Last Will and Testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof. Hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and Testaments by me heretofore made. In witness herof I the said Robert POINER do hereunto set my hand and seal this June 25th A.D. 1856. Signed Sealed and declared published by the said Robert POINER to be his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence do subscribe our names as witness thereto.
