Currituck County Wills
State of North Carolina, In the name of God Amen. I Robert ROYNER SEN. Currituck County. Being in sound and perfect mind and memory Bless Gor for the same this 21st day of June 1803. Make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner following, that is to say: First I resign my Soul to God that gave it and my body to be buried at the direction of my friend.
Item: First I give to my son James POYNER seven and a half acres of land beginning at a chinkepin part, then across the orchard a north west course to a chinkipin part, thence south 50 ____ to beaver dam thence running with the beaver dam to the division line between KALLAM and my line thence with the said line to the first station , it being seven acres more or less to said James ROYNER and his heirs forever.
Item: I give to my son John POYNER to him and his heirs forever the following land begining at a chinkipin part, standing at the back? ____ of the orchard thence runing N. 50 _____ to the bay thence with the bay to a _____ part thence withe the division line between KALLIM and my line to the first station containing seven acres and half be the same money one less? with the improvements.
Item: I give unto my grand daughter Sally POYNER one negro girl names Grace.
Item: I give to my Grand daughter Polly one negro girl named Hanner.
Item: I give to my Grandson Robert POYNER one negro named Zehise?.
Item: My will and desire is that my Grandson James POYNER have the first child that the negro wench Andy? has from the above date.
Item: I lend all the within mentioned negroes to my son James POYNER until my Grandaughters Sally and Polly comes to the age of Sixteen also my will and desire is that my Grandsons Robert and James have the negros that is given them at the age of eighteen.
Item: I give my Grandaughter Lydia one negro named Barberry and my will and desire is to have the use of the said negro until Lydia comes to the age of sixteen.
Item: My will and desire is that my son John POYNER have a certain piece? of ground whereon his orchard and house stands with their improvements Also my will and desire is that my son James have as much ground ______ where as they can agree on. Also my will and desire is that all the remainder part of my lands be equally divided between my two sons to them and their heirs forever. Also my will and desire is that if either of them should want to sell that they give the refural to the other at 20 P? per acre.
Item: My will and desire is that my son James POYNER have one cow and calf.
Item: I give to my son James POYNER the following negroes by names Abby, George, Andy, Carthey?.
Item: my will and desire is that my son John POYNER have the following: Have the following negroes by name Malachi, Nancy, Lucy and Caroline.
Item: I give to my grandaughter Julia one negro girl names Rachael.
Item: I lend to my son John POYNER one negro boy by the name of Rupe during his natural life and then to his son Thomas POYNER.
Item: I lend to my son John POYNER one negro boy the name of Spencer until my Grandson Thomas POYNER comes to the age of eighteen and then the said negro to be given up to the said Thomas POYNER.
Item: I lend my son James POYNER one negro girl by the name of Sukey until his daughter Nancy come to the age of Sixteen then the said negro to be given up to said Nancy .
Item: I give to my son James POYNER one horse by name called _____ one _____ and bridle.
Item: I give to my son John POYNER one horse called by name Buck and tact man saddle and bridle.
Item: I give to my Grandaughter Julia POYNER one young mare by the name of Diamond and one like saddle and bridle.
Item: My will and desire is that all my stock of every kind be equally divided between my two sons that I have not already given away also all my moveable property both within and without of my house be equally divided between my two sons except one linnen wheel and one small trunk them I give to my Grandaughter Julia POYNER.
Item: My will and desire is that Andrew DUKE James POYNER, and John POYNER be my Executors to this my Last Will and Testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 21st day of July 1803.
