In the name of God Amen,

I Lemuel RUSSELL of the State of North Carolina and County of Currituck being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for the same calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following

First of all I give and recommend my soul to Almighty God that gave it me and my body to be burried in a Christian like manner and as touching such worldly goods or estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and dispose of in the following manner to wit.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my Son Willis RUSSELL the south part of my land and plantation adjoining Mr. Jacob SAWYERs land as far northwardly to the drean the southward of my dwelling house and thense eastwardly a straight course so to strike the westward end of a ditch that comes from William GRAYs thense with said ditch to this main road thense southwardly with the main road to Willoughby COOPERs land thense westwardly with said COOPERs land to Jacob SAWYERs land to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my Son Lemuel RUSSELL the remainder part of my land and plantation to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I lend the use of my Negro woman Murrener(?) unto my Wife Peggy RUSSELL during her natural life and after the death of my Wife Peggy the said Negro and her increase if any hereafter to be equally divided amongst my children.

I give unto my Wife Peggy one horse creature her choice if there should be two at my decease. Also six of my largest hoggs also six of my smallest sized hoggs also one sow and pigs one cow and yearling one heifer her choice four ewes and lambs if such at my decease also twenty barrels of corn if there is as much at my decease also all my farming tools. My will and desire is that if my Wife keeps my children rear of expenses for her to have the use of my plantation until my Son comes to age. The above gifts to my Wife to her and her heirs forever. Also I give unto my Wife my spinning wheels and loom and slay and gears. Also seven setting chairs, pot tea kittle and dutch oven to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give unto my Son Willis RUSSELL one Negro boy Charles to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Lovey RUSSELL one Negro girl called Rachal to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my Son Lemuel RUSSELL one Negro boy called Cuff to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my Son Willis RUSSELL one feather bed and furniture only reserving the use of said bed unto my wife Peggy until my Son comes to age if she keeps my Son rear of expense to him and his heirs forever.

Item: My will and desire is that after paying my debts and court charges all the money I have at my decease go to the use of my family.

Item: I give and bequeath my Son Lemuel RUSSELL one feather bed and furniture. Only reserving the use of said bed to my wife Peggy if she keeps my Son rear of any expense till he comes to age to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give unto my Daughter Lovey RUSSELL one feather bed and furniture only reserving the use of said bed to my Wife Peggy if she keeps my Daughter rear of any expense till she comes to age to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I will that my old Negro Dick be sold for six months credit and the money arising therefrom I give unto my Daughter Lovey.

Item: I give unto my Son Lemuel RUSSELL six silver tablespoons to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give unto my daughter Lovey RUSSELL six silver teaspoons

Item: I give unto my Son Willis RUSSELL one hand mill.

Item: I give unto my Wife Peggy RUSSELL two pewter basins, two dishes, one set of tea cups and saucers one tea pot six plates, knives and forkes, one ______ pitcher , four stock of bees and the remainder to be sold and the money arising therefrom to be divided amongst my children, Willis, Lovey and Lemuel.

Item: my will and desire is that all the remainder part of my estate boath with and without doors that I have not already gave away be sold for six months credit and the money arising therefrom be equally divided betwixt my children Willis, Loor (sic) and Lemuel RUSSELL.

Lastly I appoint Thomas POYNER my whole and sole executor of this my Last Will and testament ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament given under my hand and seal this 29th day of September 1806.
