State of North Carolina Currituck County

In the name of God Amen, I Austin SCARBOROUGH of the County and State aforesaid, being weak of body but of sound disposing mind and memory, blessed be the Almighty God for it, calling to mind the noncertainty of this life and it being ordained once for all people to die, do make and ordain this instrument of writing to contain my Last Will and Testament, disannulling all other wills and testements heretofore made by me either by words or writing and this only to be taken as my Last Will and Testament. First that is to say I recommend soul to Almighty God, that gave it and my body to be decently in a christian like manner to be burried in a place where it shall hereafter please my executors hereafter named and as to what worldly goods and estate it hath been pleased God for to bestow me and far above my deserts I give and bestow in manner and form as followeth--

First my will and desire is that all my just debts and funeral charges should be first paid in convenient time after my decease.

my will and desire is that my beloved Son John SCARBOROUGH should have one ewe sheep.

Item I also give and bequeath to my well beloved Daughter Hanna one ewe sheep.

Item I also give and bequeath to my Daughters Margarett and Dorcas should have my three negroes by name of Nancy, Anthony and Sarah, with letting my beloved Wife have the lone of Nancy two years from this day and date.

Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Wife Polley all my land and my negro boy Harry and all the rest of my estate to raise my small children with.

I also constitute and appoint my beloved Wife and my trusty friend Thomas FARROW my whole executors to this my Last Will and Testament to settle all my business agreeable to this my Last Will and Testament and as the law directs as witness my hand and seal this thirteenth day of September one thousand eight hundred and two.
