The Last Will and Testament of James SCOTT dec’d exhibited and proved May Term 1827.
In the name of God Amen. I James SCOTT being of sound disposing mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same do on this 23rd day of May 1826 make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following.
First: I recommend my sole to Almighty God, that gave it and my body to be buried in a Christian like manner after my decease by my representative and as to touching such worldly substance as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this world, I give as follows.
First: I give unto my beloved Wife Mary SCOTT all my household and kitchen furniture and two horse all my hogs and cattle and all my sheep during her natural life.
Item: I give unto my Daughter Nancy SCOTT one negro boy Sam and One Hundred dollars in notes to her & her heirs forever.
Item: I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth SCOTT the land and plantation whereon I now live being Sixty acres more or less to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I give unto my Daughter Frankey SCOTT all my plantation and land in Moyock, that I bought of Seth CREEKMORE and One Hundred and Twenty dollars in notes to build the house on the land that I have got part of the stuff for to her and her heirs forever.
And I hereby nominate and appoint my beloved Wife Mary SCOTT my hole & sole executrix to this my Last Will and Testament

Currituck County }This Last Will & Testament of James SCOTT was exhibited in open court and proved by the oaths of Isaac BAXTER & Wm. DOXEY the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
The executor therein named having relinquished her right to qualify as executor thereto and signified her descent to the same which was ordered to be entered of record Wm. DOXEY was appointed administrator with will annexed of the said James SCOTT dec’d who qualified & bonded in form of law & ordered that letters of admn. with Will annexed issue.
